When a parent contacts me about their child and they want to know if I speak Spanish. The person I would have you speak to is not here at this time but I can try to understand what you are asking me in English even if the accent is strong. Or I try to explain to call back at a different time when the person is available to speak to them

A parent needed a band-aid

A few days ago, a parent came to the front office to speak to someone about an issue about her student. She got hurt getting out of her car and needed a band-aid for her finger. She asked if anyone had a band-aid in the office and the answer was no but I told her I would be right back that I had to go to the clinic and get one for her. The clinic cabinets were all locked and I had to think of were there would be a band-aid in the clinic. I remembered there was an emergency kit on the frig, so the band-aid was given to a happy parent.

Every day, I would always thank my students for doing their part in making the day go by smoothly. Students are customers as well. When you make a student feel important, their performance will improve.

Working in Mental health for almost 36 years has engrained in me to always be mindful of the unspoken questions, its never been one thing that I have done... its being the person that everyone knows they can go to for help. Reach out, and help, regardless of someones position or title.

Every day, I make a point to find something to compliment people on that I come across. I like to set a positive mood because we never know what type of day a person is having. If I can change one persons day and put a smile on their face I know I can change how they are feeling if not for the moment, for the day.
I believe making others feel good rubs off on everyone around them in turn, helping everyone else they come in contact with, happier.

customer service is like being the eyes of a face which are like the entrance of the soul. Offering excellent customer service implies being friendly, cordial, respectful, always being present with a broad smile welcoming the customer even if he is leaving the place. It is paying attention to the client's needs, getting involved in the situation, having extensive knowledge to be able to handle certain situations and expressing himself with a positive tone always.

It is important to be polite because you are not always aware of what someone is going through.

Excellence is relative to the preconceived concept guided culturally or from the perspective of each person. Currently I am an Attendance clerk, but before that I am a mother and I consider that I should keep in mind that as a mother I had my children at school and I would like to be treated in a professional, friendly way and with full knowledge so I always try to be aware of the latest knowledge to provide a better service without forgetting kindness and understanding towards others.

I also ask them if they need any help because many people are shy to (or not sure if they can) ask for it. Even if I myself can’t help, I might be able to direct them to someone who can.

I work with young children. Many times they are unable to explain what they need or want. I must listen, and pay careful attention in order to decipher what is being expressed in order to meet the childs need.

When I speak to students and teachers I do my best to make eye contact, ask for their input, listen to them and make notes on their feedback.

I always check back in with the customer to let them know I am working quickly but also efficient as possible. This lets them know I am putting in 110% of work to get the best possible outcome and do it right the first time because no one likes coming back with the same issue more than the first time. Even if it does involve another department, depending on the urgency of the issue, I make a commitment on my calendar to check back in with them to make sure their problem was solved. 99.9999% of the time it is resolved anyway but it always makes them happy to hear someone who helped them had enough compassion to reach out even if help is no longer needed and that you can be counted on.

I listen to my clients concerns, suggestions, and demands. If all the boxes are checked on the "best practices" list, the client will get their project as close as I can replicate their order. If something falls outside of best practices, I explain the conflict to the client and offer solutions that best fit their desire while observing the best practice standard.

Back in High School I worked at a Long John Silver's. An elderly couple always came in and ordered on meal and split it. Well, when that certain meal was "all you could eat", that same couple would come in and still order the same meal, but get to eat as much as they could (still sharing one meal).

Communication with the customer is key. Not assuming what they want or what they are asking for is paramount. This is where a lot of confusion can start and leads to the customer being misunderstood and unsatisfied. I listen to their needs and over-communicate with them. This can help stop any issues before they even start.

I do my best to listen and try to understand my customers needs in full. Many customers may not know exactly what they need, or if they need to do anything further. For example, I've had parents ask to change the primary phone number for their student. Once I am able to identify that the person is the parent for said student, I will ask if they need any other information changed. I will verify phone numbers, address information, and contact information is correct. And in doing so, I sometimes find that another phone number has changed, or that the address is incorrect, or that an individual needs to be added or removed from the pick-up list, or there is a court ordered no-contact on someone for that student. By asking these questions, or doing this verification, I am able to help keep the contact information on file accurate.

I try to always have a smile, humble and accessible.

One time a parent came into the office visiblyupset. I asked her in a gentle tone how I could help her. It seemed she was having difficulty putting her thoughts together. I came from behind the desk and motioned for her to come into the conference room with me. We just stood there for a while until she started breathing normally. She then took a deep breath and began to relay the situation that upset her. I contacted the person that could help her.
She was calm and grateful after she met with that person.

I ensure that everyone who comes into contact will be listened to and cared for.

One day a student came into the clinic, and I said with a smile, hi, how can I help you. The student stated she didn't feel well. I followed the necessary protocols for a sick student. Talking with the student, I noticed her eyes were a little red and swollen. I asked the student about her day and then I asked her is something else bothering her that she wanted to talk about. The student was hesitant at first, but she said yes, and started to cry. I gave the student some tissue and water and had her sit next to me. I told the student if she needed to talk to someone that I was there for her. The student went on to say she was having issues at home and it's affecting her schooling. I listened to the student and gave my input when necessary. I shared resources as well as encouragement with the student. After talking, the student thanked me for listening and showing concern. She stated she was scared at first because she didn't know if it was okay. She said how relieved she felt. I informed the student of the many personnel that are available to her on campus, and she was very grateful. I felt so uplifted after our conversation, to know that I was able to help someone, outside of the normal clinic duties.

I always greet everyone I come in contact with! I make eye contact and smile. I turn my body toward them in a welcoming manner. Then, I wait expecting them to respond. It is not only my goal to greet them, but I want to have an encounter with them. I want them to know that I truly care.

I always try and keep a smile on my face for everyone around me. We never know what someone is dealing with so it is best to not allow every little situation to upset us. I try and listen to the concerns and recap a small summary back to the person of what I understood them to be saying. This helps them to understand that I am listening and trying to understand them and their point. 2. I think everyone wants to feel heard and respected. Sometimes during meetings pr phone conversations I have to give difficult news or express concerns. Parents need to know you understand their concerns and really hear what they're saying. Even if you can't honor a particular request, you can show that you understand and/or empathize and offer a possible alternate solution.
