I had assumed it was just going to go away eventually, and not put the United States in danger, like the Ebola Virus. However on February 15th, around Valentine’s Day I had started to contextualize the seriousness of the issue.  I was actually on a debate trip at Harvard University in Boston. Although this may not seem of importance, there was one case in Boston at the time, so my parents decided to give me a mask to wear. Once again, this might not sound like a big deal, yet it was for my family and I, especially my father. His world functionally is surrounded by medicine and sickness, and he teaches us to embrace germs to build up a strong immune system. But when he told me to wear a mask I was genuinely surprised since he never worries about these things, germs and sickness. Now looking back at it, Noah had just gotten Type One Diabetes so I guess he was being extra cautious. I talked to him and he explained how severe it may get, even though the United States didn't catch on as quick. My family has always been pretty athletic and loves going to the park to hit some tennis balls and play basketball. For a while, that was still an option. School has been out, and therefore many people still enjoyed the clubhouse,  tennis and the basketball courts prior to the quarantine. Yet over time too many people began to gather there so my family stopped going. The activities ranged from community yoga, 6 feet apart obviously, to pick up games. After a while the HOA felt the need to close down the park, the courts, and the clubhouse. They ended up taking down the rims from the hoops which showed how serious they were. Just recently, as of May 2020, they decided to open up to singles games of tennis and only games of horse when it comes to basketball. When only family members are involved,  most things are allowed. During the time away from the community facilities, my family and I have begun to really show an enjoyment for biking. We must have ridden 30 mile in 2 weeks, just around the neighborhood. Then more recently we began exploring outside the neighborhood and started going on 10 mile bike rides. Interestingly, recently, we saw Mrs. Tacher riding her bike too. We also ventured all the way to my cousin's house and explored a horse trail near Robins Park that was basically mountain biking except with horse poop everywhere. For starters, I genuinely miss being at school and having actual social interactions. The main thing is the routine that also comes along with school, which is very hard to duplicate at home. Additionally, I miss eating food from restaurants, specifically when  my Dad  and I would sometimes go to Dunkin Donuts. Now the house is just stocked up with carb free protein puffs accompanied by many other carb free snacks. However, there is an upside to my situation since I am definitely becoming healthier and more fit while in quarantine. I also seem to long for time away from my brothers, since they are in my face 24/7.  I feel as everyone needs, for lack of better words, “private time." This is something I cannot enjoy when Jake is begging to play Minecraft. The most important thing that I miss is being able to hangout with my extended family. Usually we have sleepovers and family dinners, yet lately we haven't been able to enjoy these together. I actually got to go swimming with my cousins a few days ago but that was basically it.
