Also, I like this book because it has colorful pictures that really engage young children and make them interested in participating. I have read this to toddlers and two year olds and they love copying the repeated phrase and saying the name of the animal. This helps to improve oral language skills.

We liked this book for infants and toddlers because it simple and interactive. It allows students to be able to identify the shapes without having to be able to read. The words are there as more of a resource than a necessity. At the end of the book it shows how you can put shapes together to make different objections. For example: five circles together can make a caterpillar. We will use this book to support oral language development by having the children repeat the shapes name after we have modeled each one.

Like many Dr. Suess books, this book is commonly a hit with younger children because of the catchy sentence structure, rhyming, and interesting characters. I think this particular book would do a good job fostering oral language development because due to the short and choppy sentences, it is easy for children of all ages to follow along. Whether it be through echo reading, where the students repeat after the teacher, or just by having students make comments about the pictures along the way.

This supports oral language because having repetition and rhyme gives children the ability to predict what is next or repeat the words back. It is very diverse and shows babies around the world and how they all have the similarity of having ten fingers and ten toes. This is great to show that even though we may look different we have commonalities.

The book is an award winning book that brings up the topic of diversity in a simple, light hearted way for little children to comprehend. I would use this book to strength the children's literacy by having them draw the differences and similarities of the characters and create their own dialogue of the story either written or orally. This way, students can start to learn about diversity within our schools, homes, lives, etc.

The book introduces counting subtly as each day the caterpillar eats one more of a object.

I would choose this book for toddlers because it is simple, repetitive, and colorful. It supports oral language because children identify each of the zoo animals and have to connect what noises they make. When teachers or parents read this book to children, it is a great way to practice making the animal noises out loud. For example, a child sees a picture of a snake they will know it makes a hissing sound and can show that they know it verbally.

This book can be done almost in a song with lots of YouTube videos for you to sing along with if needed :). This book also does a great job of introducing colors and different objects that represent those colors. Young children are typically more captivated by patterns and songs as well, which would draw them to the text more instead of them getting bored too quickly. There are of course many other Pete the Cat books that would also be great for young learners with a variety of topics, but this one is my favorite by far!

It has repetition of words, speaking and singing, the concept shows the children what love is (so if they come from an unloving home it provides positive examples), and high in sight words. The book can be used to develop oral language development through reading it out loud themselves focusing in fluency (the repetition), and expression (singing part of text). The text overall provides many different read-aloud practices, good use of repetition, and a healthy topic.

Students are able to discuss how different fish in the book feel when being turned away, alone, and when they are accepted. Students can use the pictures to further their understanding of the text and can also create their own stories that are similar. Students can try and relate to different fish and use their artistic ability to try and create a fish that represents unique abilities about themselves. This story shows children that everyone is unique but it is more important to use your gifts for good instead of keeping them to and for yourself.

This book focuses on why it's important to listen to you family, friends, and teachers. Some young children can forget the importance of following directions and paying attention to certain things. This book focuses on questions children are likely to ask and explain the answers in a way that children will understand.

Chica chica boom boom

I chose this book because it is a nice easy read for toddlers to follow along with and is an awesome resource for students to start to learn their letters of the alphabet. And not to mention this book is such a fun book to read and can keep toddlers entertained very easily if you do a great interactive reading.

This text is high quality for your children because it has a lot of repetition so it helps them understand that words have a specific meaning. This story could support oral language because you many model the phrases that are stated in the book, and children can copy them.

I chose this book because it is great for students who are learning to read. When a child is learning to read, it is very beneficial for the student to be reading rhyming books and/or repetitive books. When doing so, the child can see patterns and recognize those certain words easier. This also makes students become more fluent when reading because rhyming helps children learn not to pause in the middle of their speech
