At the age of 21 settled in Vienna and lived there until the end of his life. He was started having hearing problems in his late 20s. In 1811, he was stopped conducting and giving public concerts at the age of 41, but continued to compose. He was composed his most appreciated works in the last 15 years of his life.He died in Vienna Austria on 26 March 1827.
