They actually talk and "web" conversations, this is where he really began to have thoughts.

QUOTE: "Montag showed her a book. 'This is the Old and New Testament, and...' " (Page 72) This is where Montag shows Mildred the books he has kept for a long time and she thinks it is nonsense and he needs to get rid of them. At this moment Montag could not take back what he just did and had to move forward with his plan and his wife knowing.

Beatty went on as if nothing had happened" (Page 54) When this quote was stated, this is where Beatty had become very suspicious of Montag and started to understand what he was hiding (the books). This is significant because Beatty decided to ignore the fact that Montag had a book hiding under his pillow.

QUOTE: " 'We never burned right...' 'Hand it over, Guy' said Beatty with a fixed smile. And then he was a shrieking blaze, a jumping, sprawling gibbering manikin, no longer human or known, all writhing flame on the lawn as Montag shot one continuous pulse of liquid fire on him." (Page 113) This quote explains how Montag lights Beatty on fire and kills him, this is where the story starts to climb because Montag has to run. This gets the readers attention and makes them wait for the big moment on what happens to Montag.

He had just stood there, not really trying to save himself, just stood there, joking, needling..." (Page 116) This quote opened Montags mind to everything, he realized Beatty was miserable and wanted to die which is very significant to the story line of this book because you would think Beatty wants to live and destroy books.

He hopes that he left everyone thinking.

QUOTE: "Montag held the bombs in the sky for a single moment, with his mind and his hands reaching helplessly up at them" (Page 151) This is significant to the story because if Montag did not get out of the city he would have been dead so him and the other men were safe from the bombing. So was faber because he took a bus to get out.

'And when they ask us what we're doing, you can say, We're remembering' " (Page 156-157) This quote is Granger talking to Montag about what they plan on doing, this isn't a set down plan but it shows the way they will impact the people that are seeking answers and purposes to spread them as well.
