Many Irish immigrants migrated from Ireland to America. In this picture Irish workers are sitting on a steel beam in New York while in between work. Many Irish immigrants worked in big cities since those were the cities that they entered through. This picture is a perfect example of a pull factor. Many immigrants came to America to seek out work and economic opportunities since they didn't have those in their own country.

In the early 1900's, many Irish were forced out of Ireland because of the ongoing famine cause by the potato blight. Many of the Irish then immigrated to America in order to be able to survive however due to their religion many of them were treated unfairly as at the time Catholics were seen as a threat to the American dream due to most Americans being Protestant.

In this example Mary Ann Rowe was an Irish immigrant that migrated to America. She is writing a letter back to her family in Ireland about her new life in America. Although many immigrants came to America on pull factors, many were pushed out of Ireland or persecuted. In this example Mary Ann was persecuted because of her religion which is why she left for America which is a push factor. Many Protestant Christians were persecuted by Catholics at this time since the Protestants were from Scotland or England. She was a Protestant that was persecuted so she came to America for religious freedom. She even states in the letter that she can go to church whenever she pleases where as before she couldn't all because she wasn't Catholic.

In this piece of artwork which was published into a magazine it shows many immigrants leaving Queens town to come to New York. There are many kids, women and men who are leaving. While the push and pull factors aren't directly stated in this piece. The viewer can infer that many of the men are leaving for jobs which is a pull factor. While the women, and children are leaving for economic reasons, such as money and food since Ireland is in a famine at this time or for religious freedom which would both be push factors. Since it is things that are pushing them out of the home country.

This source shows a letter written by a young Irish immigrant to her home back in Ireland. A factor that pushed her out of Ireland but also a pull factor into America was the religious intolerance of Catholics at the time in Ireland which forced many people out however the religious freedoms of America attracted many Catholic Irish immigrants much to the dismay of the American people.

This sources shows a picture of Annie Moore and her brothers crossing into America as the first immigrants to ever pass through Ellis Island in NYC. The main pull factor for them and there parents who were already in America was the much larger opportunity for jobs compared to Ireland and the ability to make a lot more money than at home in Ireland.
