The author is trying to make us see how Ted has grown throughout the story. He has now become more accepting and at peace with himself, and is ready to go back home. This passage had a significant impact on my thinking on Ted’s character. It helps show me how he has grown. I think I understand better why he went out to live by himself during the summer. I think he may have wanted some time alone to reflect.

Ted is in between forgiving his father or starting to be unforgiving.  The two months in the woods help him become more social and forgiving.
The quote means that he would forget about all of it and come in home. It reveals about Ted that he has a better knowledge of forgiveness.
This quote connects to me by how I know to forgive people and to be nice to people.
