Causes:
Dengue fever is caused by any of the four dengue viruses. Dengue fever is transmitted through mosquito bites.

The two types of mosquitoes that most often spread the dengue virus are common in and around human dwellings. When a mosquito bites a person infected with a dengue virus, the virus enters the mosquito. Then, when the infected mosquito bites another person, the virus enters the person's bloodstream and causes an infection.

Symptoms:
Many people do not have any signs or symptoms of a dengue infection.
High fever 40 degrees Celsius
*Headache
*Muscle, bone or joint pains
*Nausea
*Vomiting
*Pain behind the eyes
*Swollen glands
*Rash

Most people recover in about a week. In some cases, symptoms get worse and can be life-threatening. This is called severe dengue, dengue hemorrhagic fever, or dengue shock syndrome.
*Intense stomach pain
*Persistent vomiting
Bleeding from the gums or nose *Bloody in the urine, nose, or mouth
Blood in the urine, stool or vomit *Blood in the urine, stool or vomit
Bleeding under the skin, which may look like a bruise (hematoma) *Bleeding under the skin, which may look like a bruise *(hematoma)
*Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing
*Fatigue
*Irritability or restlessness

Alternative Treatment:
Home remedies such as:
chamomile tea, peppermint tea and even St. John's wort tea can be used because they have properties that reduce muscle pain, fever and headache.

There are also teas that should be avoided for example. Ginger tea.

Traditional Treatment:
There is no specific treatment for dengue fever.
Follow-up care in a hospital
Intravenous fluids and electrolyte replacement
Blood pressure monitoring
Transfusion to replace blood loss
Over-the-counter acetaminophen (Tylenol and others) may help reduce muscle aches and fever.
But if you have dengue, you should avoid other over-the-counter pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB and others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). These pain relievers can increase the risk of dengue bleeding.

Prevention:
Use repellents on uncovered areas of the body.
Wear appropriate clothing such as long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
Use mosquito nets or canopies on beds.
Drink plenty of fluids.
