we went to the Mac Lab and we found that the room is full of iMac devces with spy on their users for Apple.
We would improve the network by removing mac devices and replacing them with devices that are compatible with linux operating systems.

We also found out that some of the computers are connecting to the network using a CAT5E ethernet lead whereas some of the computers are connecting with a CAT6 lead. We also found a lose CAT6 cable at the window, so there would definitely be an option to change more devices to CAT6.

We swapped the ethernet leads between 2 devices to test if sticky mac is enabled and we were disappointed to see it is not enabled in the lab. This leaves a massive vulnerability on the network as if anyone walks in with a laptop that is equipped with hacking tools, they would have full acces to the network, exactly like the macs in the lab.

We also found accessible openings on the floor that lead to power sockets and possibly networking devices (Although we did not see any, but the ethernet leads are all running to the same location). These openings are shared for the ethernet leads and the power leads of the computers, which means there could be interference coming from the power leads, that could effect the performance of the network communication. We would use different openings for the power leads and the ethernet leads or change the ethernet leads to shielded ethernet leads.

30x RS PRO 3m CAT6 shielded F/UTP cables would cost £310.32 (£258.60 without VAT) from rs-components
We would buy 30 cables to calculate in some possible failure and have backup leads.

Configuring sticky mac for all the devices would last around 2 hours, changing all the cables would also last around 2 hours, so we would pay a network engineer 4 hours of work that would not cost extra money as the university has an IT Support desk who are responsible for building the network and they have a contract with the university.

N424 existing cabling

would cost approx. £1276/£1531.20 (excl./inc. VAT) excluding shipping to replace the existing cabling with similar cables.

Would recommend replacing majority of cables with at least CAT 6 or greater cables to improve maximum bandwidth and reliability. This would, however, change the above price. (Depending on vendors, this may increase or decrease the price (due to shielding, colour, length, etc.)
