Although maintaining and modernizing a school’s facilities have always been a balancing act with other school expenses, more studies are beginning to highlight the full impact of a well-equipped learning environment. In turn, school governors and heads have a clearer understanding of the benefits and are giving more attention to the issue.

With the will of the school managers, and the continuing improvements and innovations of school facilities, the learning environment is more interactive and conducive. With good facilities, teachers will be better prepared to adapt to the changing education requirements of their students for the job market, (Andrews, 2018)

Do School Facilities Affect Academic Outcomes?

In this study, Mark Schneider, Ph.D. looked at how clean, quiet, safe, comfortable, and healthy environments influence successful teaching and learning. He asks which facility attributes affect academic outcomes the most and in that manner and degree.

It shows that the condition of school facilities has an important impact on student performance and teacher effectiveness. In particular, research demonstrates that comfortable classroom temperature and noise level are very important to efficient student performance.

There are numerous classroom management mistakes that teachers make as the school year passes by. Some of these are:

1. Inconsistency-teacher appears to act from a subjective-reactive set of criteria and or lacks a transparent and consistent set of principles from which to make decisions.

Solution: Avoid changing of principles that you have made, be consistent enough with it.

2. Chronicling Student Failure- Teacher focuses on what is not going well, the misbehavior and the problematic aspects of the students.

Solution: Focusing on student's failure might lead them to lose their self-confidence. Do not just focus on their failures, also acknowledge and appreciate their success.

3. Use of Punishments-Teacher responds to unwanted behavior with penalties intended to give short-term discomfort.

Solution: Don't use punishment for student's wrong doings, they might avoid and get afraid going to your class. In this case, you can address the student's unwanted behavior by calling out his/her name.

4. Consistent and perpetual use of Extrinsic Rewards-Teacher gives students tangible or quantitative rewards for desired behavior.

Solution: Don't show favoritism. Some pupils might get jealous of what you are showing to their classmates. Instead, model your ideal behavior everyday. That case, they will follow what you are doing.

Professor Greg Thompson of Queensland University of Technology in Australia published the research, which analyzes the elements affecting the status of education employees around the world, including income and working conditions, as well as professional autonomy and media representation of teachers. The following are some of the most important findings

1. Teacher compensation is too low, working conditions are degrading, and government investment in infrastructure to support teaching and learning is not a priority.

2. The workload has increased. Over 55% of those polled said their responsibilities were unmanageable. Over 66% of respondents believed that "administrivia" requirements were adding to education professionals' excessive working constraints.

3. Teacher attrition was cited as a problem at all academic levels, with primary school reporting the highest rate (33.1%) and higher education reporting the lowest (17.3%). Teaching, according to 48% of respondents, is not an appealing vocation for young people.

4. For instructors, continuing professional development is still insufficient. Many instructors thought it was of poor quality, that it didn't directly address the challenges that teachers were confronting, and that it came at a personal financial expense with no clear professional rewards (see tables 106-112).

How can these factors affect the student?

According to Daniel Madigan and Lisa Kim's study,

Does teacher burnout affect students?,

the findings provided some evidence that teacher burnout is associated with worse academic achievement and lower quality student motivation, but little evidence that it is associated with student wellbeing. There is a clear need for more studies in this area, especially those adopting more robust designs, exploring moderating factors, and examining the mechanisms that explain these relationships. Nonetheless, the present findings provide preliminary evidence that teacher burnout can affect the students they teach.
