Every year UPHC always holds an event called "Youth in Mission". In this Youth in Mission project I chose to do personal mission. Actually this was because I registered late for joining mission trip. However, I'm glad that I got to do my personal mission with my supportive group.

This year's personal mission was a great success. However, it wasn't always according to our plan. Me and my friends started this personal mission with a quite hectic start. The day before the personal mission begun, we just started packing the goody-bags and preparing for the event itself. Eventually, we finished packing and we got home relieved knowing that everything is done.

First Day

It was the day. The day that we waited for 2 months ever since YIM has been mentioned. We went to an orphanage called "Panti Sosial Tangan Kasih". We went there in the afternoon and was welcomed by the kids there. They were so excited to see us and join our events, which made us really happy. Firstly, our events started with praise and worship, which they followed very well. Then, we got to draw and play some games. At that time, I talked with this girl named Ayu. She was sweet and very nice. She introduced me to a lot of culture in her orphanage and told me about her family. We talked for quite a while and I got to know both her and this orphanage better. At the end we all had to go home.

Second Day

It's our second day in that orphanage. I still feel happy whenever I go there though. On that day we started off with a song and ice-breaking. Then we made sandwich for each one of us and the orphans. Lastly, we made an arts and craft project named "Planet Hanger". At the end of the day, we had to say goodbye to them all. It was both sad and heartwarming to see them sad about us leaving. I really felt happy serving there. I feel like they're such a strong family that comes from different backgrounds. I learned so much from this personal mission and especially this place.

What I'm grateful for

In the end, all I can do is just be grateful. I'm grateful that I can have enough money to buy my necessities, that I still have a family, and that I can still live a life unlike theirs. However, that also taught me that I could still find happiness in every circumstance. Although I only explained about one place, doesn't mean the rest are unimportant, but this place was the most memorable to me. I hope in the future I could get more chances to do services like this.
