The map is not just a map. The whole website is interactive and shows different aspects of human activities on earth. Starting with population density, it then moves on to other human made activities. For us, it was exciting to see how population density is related to other aspects such as the extinction of species, light pollution or the loss of living space. And also, or perhaps, through industrialisation, the use of container ships, planes and trains, humans have had an extreme impact on the earth. The main question which arises is: At what point does the human demand on Earth outpace the planet's ability to support our species and those we live alongside - or have we overextended our reach already?
