         <title>Microbial Keratitis:</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Microbial Keratitis is one type of contact lens complications.&nbsp; It can be bacterial, parasitic or fungal.&nbsp; This complication is conjunctive with eye pain, eye redness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, excessive tearing and eye discharge.&nbsp; Causes of this complication can be associated with overnight contact lens wear, recurrent eye injury, a weakened immune system and problems with eyelids or tearing.&nbsp; Prevention can be obtained by good hand hygiene.&nbsp; Not sleeping with contact lenses in the eye unless instructed to do so by a physician.&nbsp; Additionally, avoiding showering or bathing with lenses in.&nbsp; These are all contributing behaviors that can reduce the development of microbial keratitis.<br>"The picture exhibits an extreme case of microbial keratitis.&nbsp; As you can see the eye is evidently red.&nbsp; Also, the milky film present over the cornea is indicative of this patient having blurred vision.&nbsp; Finally, the reflection of light and the build up of tears is complimentary with microbial keratitis."</strong><br><br>Source:<br>Image from:&nbsp; <a href="https://www.myalcon.com/education/academy-eye-care-excellence/cclm/microbial-keratitis.shtml">https://www.myalcon.com/education/academy-eye-care-excellence/cclm/microbial-keratitis.shtml</a><br>Resources by eyecare and health professional, "A Guide to Clinical Contact Lens Management, Signs, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Management; 08/2014</div>]]></description>
