A fun surprise was waiting at the local grocery store for my daughter and I! Out in front of the store were pumpkins! Lots and lots of pumpkins! There was a huge variety of pumpkins. The pumpkins came in different shapes and sizes. We spent a long time looking closely at all the different types of pumpkins. There were the ordinary orange pumpkins, pumpkins with warts, pumpkins with stripes, even giant pumpkins that were so heavy they were impossible to move. Look at this strange green, warty pumpkin that I am holding in the photo below. I started thinking more and more about pumpkins throughout the rest of the day. I was curious! I started to wonder why so many pumpkins are orange. Today, we will investigate this very question - Why are pumpkins orange? Let's get started!
