Observe: <br>a) Foods, plastics, water, papers, tissues, wrappers, cans, cigarettes, <br>b) Schools, companies, shopping malls <br>c) Yes,  Singapore tried to publicise 4R recycling methods through school education, through installing recycling bins in shopping malls and around HDBs. Supper market charge additional when we use plastic bags, and also encouraging  us to bring our own recycle bag. Ikea stop providing plastic, KFC and macdonald stop giving straws and lids, campuses such as NUS replaced plastic straws with paper straws. </div>]]></description>

Food wastage due to overestimate amount of food more than what we eat; Papers used for writing and tissues as it is more convenient and  hygienic.<br>b. I tend to forget about switching off the switch when I am away.<br>c. Yes. We will not keep the tap running and we use cup when brushing our teeth. Water used for rinsing food will also be used to water the plants; We will sort out recyclable such as plastic bottles, empty glass and used papers for recycling.</div>]]></description>

How much waste is wasted per day?<br>I would roughly estimate about half a roll of tissue and several packaging waste.  There is some food wastage as well.<br><br>2. (a) Types of waste generated and why<br>There will be packaging from the items we buy. We would dispose food that has been reheated for more than 1/2 meals. Tissue are often use for hygiene purposes.<br><br>(b) I would say everyone in the household generate similar amount of waste. But i would say we do think twice before disposing items.<br><br>(c)Is there any recycling done?<br>Yes, there is recycling done. Water used for rinsing the rice is used for watering plants. We used the last rinse of laundry water for flushing our toilets. Plastic bags are reused for to gather un-recyclable waste. All papers that have one side unused are gather as scrap paper.<br> <br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. </div><ul><li>7.70 million tonnes of solid wast generated a year. </li><li>Plastic wastage: 908,600 tonnes. </li><li>Food wastage: 636,900 tonnes. </li></ul><div>2. </div><ul><li>a) Plastic, Food, Water and Electricity are commonly generated in daily life. Carrier bag and food packagings are usually plastic-made and thrown away after single use. People may not be able to finish their food resulting in food wastage. Taps aren’t turn off when not in use, resulting in water wastage. Keeping the lights and power switches on even when not in use results in electricity wastage. </li><li>b) Household, Residential </li><li>c) I would say YES. Personally, my family uses plastic bags from supermarkets as trash bag. We set air-conditioner at a constant 25 degrees celcius. We do sort out cardboards and newspaper for recycling. Other than that, Singapore do has organisations (NEA) set up to spread the importance and educate the public on waste minimisation and recycling. etc, REDUCE: Use only what you need.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>1. Personally I have a bad habit of drinking bottled water, so minimum a day I waste 1 plastic bottle. On top of that, sometimes I would waste 2 tablespoon of food and also 1-2 pieces of tissue paper. <br><br>2. (a) types of waste generated and why <br>Most of the time it’s plastic as it is commonly used by many people : plastic bags plastic containers plastic spoons and forks even the packaging of our snacks and food are mostly made of plastics. <br><br>(b) my family members waste equal amount of waste daily and most of it is plastics, during family gathering we tend to use disposable cutleries and also we have a bad habit of buying bulk of bottled water for convenience <br><br>(c) Yes, we reuse most of our plastic bags that we got from our groceries and shopping and sometimes even plastic containers that was used for our takeaways<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) Everyday I will wasted about 5-6 pieces of tissue paper, and some water wastage as well.<br>2a) Tissue paper as it is more convince and hygienic. Water wastage as I tend to not switch off the tap whenever I’m using it.<br>2b) I am the biggest waste contributor towards these two wastage.<br>2c) I will say for tissue and water wastage I have not done any recycling, but towards other items such plastic bag from groceries shopping I will reuse it as trash bag, and for papers that are used one sided I will use another side for writing notes,  for papers that are used both side I will use it to throw some small trash.<br><br> </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) On a daily basis, I would estimate about a 5-6 plastic packaging and a handful of tissue paper. As we keep the wifi on 24/7 instead of switching it off at night when not in use, I would think that we wasted a good amount of electricity there as well. <br> <br>2A) Firstly, food waste will usually be more prominent in our household as most of the time we are not able to finish as much food as we expected. Secondly, we do waste a bit of electricity as we are a family of five and most of the time we are in different living areas such as the dining room or bedrooms so we do switch the lights and fan on even if there is only one person using the area. <br><br>2B) I’ve got to admit that I’m the biggest waste contributor as I like to shower with the tap on even when I’m soaping and will always have my nightlight on when i go to bed.<br><br>2C) Yes of course, as a general observation, majority of the Singaporean families uses used plastic bags as a rubbish bag and it is also a something that our family is used to doing. </div>]]></description>

Packaging waste, food waste, clothes. Can be found commonly in my household and in Singapore.<br><br>2b. Companies, childcare and restaurants.<br><br>2c. Clothes are being sold as 2nd hand clothes at a cheaper price or being donated to organisation. So that the clothes are not wasted.<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) In my household, around two plastic bags are disposed every day. Both of which contains waste such as food which include fruits skins and tissue papers etc. </div><div> </div><div>2a) Waste such as plastics, paper and styrofoam are generated in my household. Since my house members do not cook on a daily basis, we often eat take out foods where the waste of styrofoam are generated daily. We also uses a normal plastic bag and place in inside the rubbish bin to throw all other wastes into it daily. Flyers that are useless as also being crushed and threw away. </div><div><br></div><div>2b) I think everyone in the family are equal contributor to the waste generated at home.  </div><div> </div><div>2c) Yes. We recycle clothings, papers or newspaper in the blue recycling bins that are located at the ground floor of each housing block at least once a month. We also have the habit of sharing 4 ply tissues together by peeling it into 2 ply each to limit the usage of tissue waste. Also, we switch on aircon at 25 degree celsius when the weather is humid.  </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

Plastic bags are wasted as, not much recycling can be done using food packaging, as well as using plastic bags to contain trash. There is food wastage as well. <br><br>2) a) Electricity is wasted as fans and lights are often left on even when there is no one using it. Plastic packaging use to contain food such as candy wrappers, cling wrap are also often being thrown away after only using it once since they are not meant to be reused.<br><br>b) Unfortunately i am the biggest waste contributor in the household as I like to take long showers and leave the lights on. <br><br>c) Yes, my sister and i recycle our old textbooks and worksheets. I will also not use plastic bags when shopping whenever possible.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) 3 plastic bags used Everyday in order to clear food and other wastages. An average of 9 hours of the day that I use for electricity and 2-3 hours of water usage a day. <br>2) a) the types of waste generated are liquid waste, food waste and solid materials. Often when washing the dishes, there will be the tendency to dump all the waste into one single bag so it will all be compounded and thereby turning into useless waste to be dumped later.<br> b)the biggest waste contributor is me whenever I tend to just throw everything into one bag,including materials that can be recycled, thereby reducing the purpose of the recycling materials and even wasting more rubbish.<br>C) there is little to none recycling done at my household usually<br>3)</div>]]></description>
