Teachers generally make an average of $58,780 a year. The average salary made in the state of Washington is $64,760 a year. On average teachers make about $10,000 less than some other career fields with bachelor degrees such as nursing and engineering. The average starting salary across the United States is $38,617. Teachers should get paid more because, they give children opportunities. 
  Teachers can get an increase in pay a couple of ways. They can get an increase if they work in the same district every year. Another way is if they go to school beyond their bachelors degree. For example, in the Evergreen School District in 2017-2018 a teacher with their masters degree for their first year can make $43,785. This is $7,000 more than what a teacher makes with their bachelors degree. 
Knowing that the teacher pay is less than what a lot of other professions make doesn’t change my mind about wanting to be a teacher. I feel this way because, i think that children need a good education and I want to be able to give that to them.
