In the beginning there was nothing but darkness and a feeling of emptiness. And within the darkness was Heka, the god of magic, who was waiting the moment of creation. The moment finally arrived when the primordial hill known as ben-ben came to life with the great god Atum (Lord. of the Universe). Atum looked at the darkness before him a realized that he was all alone. And so he mated with his shadow and gave birth to Shu (god of air) and Tehnut (goddess of moisture). Shu and Tehnut's job was to establish the world and fix the feeling of emptiness. So they set out and left their father on ben-ben. Atum soon worried about his children since they were gone for quite some time. He removed his eye so it could go in search for his kids. When Shu and Tefnut returned Atum she tears of joy and these tears created men and women.

Shu (god of air) and Tehnut's (goddess of moisture) job was to establish the world. But they had nowhere to live. So they mated and gave birth to Get (the earth) and Nut (sky). Get and nut were inseparable and soon fell in love although they were brother and sister. Atum (Lord of the Universe) did not approve of their relationship, so he split the two up and sent Nut high above the heavens. The two could always see each other but could never touch again. However Nut was already pregnant and soon gave birth to the five Egyptian gods Osiris, Isis, Set, Nephthys and Horus.

Goddess of Morality

Ma'at was the goddess of truth, justice and morality. Her mother was Ra (sun god) and was married the god of moon, Thoth. She deemed the goddess of morality because she was tasked with weighing the hearts if the dead to decide who should have eternal joy in the afterlife. It was based upon all the good deeds you accomplished during your life. Her feather of truth was the deciding factor. When the heart was placed on the scale and was heavier than the feather that person was not able to be granted eternal joy. If the heart was too heavy a demon would then devour it causing the deceased to die within seconds.
