The word Soledad means to be alone in greek. This is related to the book because it is silently telling you that the town in the book of mice and men is the town of loneliness. This helps the reader understand the theme because its the town of the ranch and most of the people lived a life of being by themselves. This relates to the American Dream because people trying to accomplish their dream had to do it by their self and work hard to accomplish this goal, but were alone doing this to live the life of an American Dream.

In Of Mice and men the character Lennie's personality is like a child. He does not mean to get George in trouble but he doesn't think as well as others, although he shows great loyalty to him. This shows his loneliness with the inability to interact with people from his knowledge. This holds him back to the interactions with all people and creates him not having friends. This is related to the American Dream due to the lack of knowledge and social skills of people during this time creating loneliness throughout the country of this time period.

Everyone who has lived on the farms lived their life alone. They do not get out in their life since it revolves around the farm this created a sense of loneliness for everyone working on the farms alone in the book. This is related to the American Dream because it shows how most people who would work hard did not have much of a social life. This created a outbreak of loneliness due to the fact that most of the people living during the American Dream worked on a farm which did not call for a socially oriented life

In the book the author shows how most ranchers live a harsh life of longs hours of working and not earning a lot of money. Since they were working alone and living off the land this created a sense of loneliness throughout most farmers in the book. This is related to the American Dream because most people worked long hours for unfair pay, while having bad working conditions. The visual shows how there is no happiness with the workers and they live their life as a way to just get by and not live their real dreams that they believe in.

In the book George kills Lennie since Lennie had killed Curleys wife. He is saving him by doing this since the punishments would be worse if he gets caught or if Curley gets hands on him. This created loneliness to George due to the fact that Lennie was his only friend. This is related to the American Dream because most people attempting to achieve their goals of this dream didn't have many friends and shows how important everyone is in life to help you achieve your goal to live the American Dream life.
