         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Learners Level of Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:</strong></div><div><strong>Prior Knowledge:</strong></div><div>This will the students first health related activity scheme however they may be familiar to certain muscular systems and cardio vascular systems from their study of science.</div><div><strong>Prior Skills</strong></div><div>Students have completed a fundamental movement scheme of three lessons that will be of benefit to them during this scheme as it will involve a lot of games and not sport-specific movements </div><div><strong>Prior Attitudes: </strong></div><div>This class has proven to have a very positive attitude towards physical education and the majority of the class are physically active outside of school. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Rationale for Selection of Instructional Model: Health Related Physical Fitness </strong></div><div> </div><div>Health related physical fitness includes acquiring positive values and attitudes towards health and well-being and the promotion of lifelong participation. (Luttrell &amp; Chambers, 2013, p.313). This follows the NCCA’s (2015) idea that students should be able to monitor their improvements and “identify a range of strategies to support ongoing participation in health-related physical activity” (p.11). </div><div>I choose the model for this particular class as they are a very active class with 80% of the class participating in some class of physical activity outside of the PE class, however The Health Behaviours in School Children (2006) survey revealed a shocking statistic that by fifteen years of age, almost 90% of girls and 70% of boys don’t achieve the recommend level of physical activity. By adopting this model, I aim to show this class the benefits of prolonged exercise and encourage and motivate them to continue the levels of physical activity that they are currently at. </div><div> </div><div>I also choose this model as it is a model that the school can get involved in as a community, the school as recently adopted a healthy eating policy in the school canteen which is where the majority of students get their lunch. The aim of this scheme is to show to students the benefits of health and well-being, if these students realise the importance if this and indeed the importance of exercise and nutrition, they will be some of the first students to really adhere to this policy and the hope will be that other students will follow there example and they will be the students to set the example for years coming into the school. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Organisation of the Learning Experience</strong></div><div>This scheme will consist of six lessons. The first lesson will be an introduction to health and well-being, the aspects of health and how health is comprised of more than just physical health, but social and emotional health are just as important, hence students will be encouraged to ask each other questions about aspects of there lives other than just physical activity during the activities. The old fashioned ‘be quite and do laps’ is not the approach something that will be adopted for this scheme. In the second half of the first lesson students will then be given a test sheet in which they will perform a variety of test and record their results. Each week will focus on a different system such as respiratory or cardiovascular, the students will also be asked to keep an activity journal which they will reflect on each week as a group and students will discuss why their activity dropped or increased from week to week. The students will then again be tested for improvements in the final week of the scheme. </div>]]></description>
