SIMILARITIES 
 - Both Clotho and her sisters were tricked into becoming intoxicated by Alcestis. This can be linked to Claire being manipulated by Ill prior to her visit to Gullen 
- Teacher: "Seeing that old lady stepping out of the train in her black robes (...) Like one of the Fates, like an avenging goddess. Her name should be Clotho, not Claire." (page 20-21)
- The Calydonian Boar Hunt - link to Claire setting her Black Panther loose for the town to capture and kill (not directly related to the sisters)
- Clotho is known in the tenth book of the Republic of Plato as the daughter of necessity - Claire is a necessity to the town as she is able to give them their good fortune, and also has a link with the townspeople (?)

DIFFERENCES
- Clotho works together with her sisters when spinning, holding and cutting the thread of life, Claire works independently to rid of Ill and manipulate the town (with support from Butler, Toby & Roby, Koby & Loby etc)
- Clotho is able to revive people from the dead

- Clotho is one of the three sisters of fate (Moirai), the others being Lachesis (decider of lifespan) and Atropos (decider of how someone died)
- Clotho was responsible for spinning and weaving the thread of life, while Lachesis measured it and Atropos cut it
- links to Claire as they both have the power to determine the outcome of a person's life

- Claire determines Ill's destiny as well as the Town's future
- Claire's money allows her to decide this "I can afford justice,  one billion for Gullen, if someone kills Alfred Ill." (pg 35)

Differences:
Clotho holds the power to decide whether someone is born or killed; Claire doesn't necessarily have this power, she persuades others with rewards to do her will. 

Claire is depicted as being ultimately unforgiving and merciless, and seemingly enjoys manipulating and causing others harm, whilst Clotho brings people back to life at times, and rarely commits acts for personal gain.

Difference: 
Claire takes pleasure in being in control of Ill's life and mortality.
