Sixteen-year-old Tegan Oglietti wakes up one hundred years into her future. She discovers she has been frozen for all that time. It had been 2027 and she along with her new boyfriend, Dalmar, and her best friend Alex, had been on their way to a protest. Tegan did not survive the protest. She was mistakenly shot by a sniper intent upon attacking the Prime Minister and died. But because she had signed her body over to science upon death, she was taken to an experimental cryonics unit run by Dr. Tessa Kalin. There she was injected with a solution derived from tardigrades, which are segmented micro-animals that can survive under extreme conditions (from extreme cold to very high temperatures) and then frozen. Dr. Kalin and her team did not know how to reverse the cryonics procedure in 2027 and Tegan was kept frozen until a future time when scientists would have developed that ability. That time has now arrived in the year 2127. Under the direction of Dr. Marie Carmen, who is working in conjunction with the Australian military.

In her previous life, Tegan was involved in parkour and so she uses that skill to try to escape the building in wich she is being kept in. She ends up at a talk in progress by Dr. Carmen who rescues her and takes her back to the research compound.

They arrange for Tegan to attend the Elizabeth Murdoch Academy and after she is accosted by a journalist, to have two body guards, Master Sergeant Gregor Petrov and Sergeant Zaniesha Washington. Tegan is Bombarded buy the press and hesitates while saying no comment.

This like the term ‘ween’ being ‘outdated’ and She has a brief Flash back of when she met Alex on a bus one-day home after Her foster parents had abused her. After the Flashback They continue to get to know about each other by discussing things like the Beatles.

The inheritor of the earth tries to convince Tegan that she is an empty husk and that she should kill herself. Gregor one of her body guards then shot him killing him there and then after he started to talk about some ark pro. She finds a list of addresses as well as that it is called the ark project but then the computer starts getting traced so Tegan destroys it. The next day Tegan goes to school heading towards the music class where she is asked to perform in front the whole class. Half way through her dull singing performance Abdi decides to join in singing for the first time see he moved to Australian. Abdi singing ties into the theme of courage as Abdi had the courage not to sing since he arrived in Australia. Two containers were then wheeled out of a hidden trapdoor that was previously hidden by a scrap metal bin. The containers were then escorted over to the truck before being wheeled back into the passage way. Tegan and Bethari then returned home. When Tegan returned from the sleepover she met Talia her new media specialist who is preparing her for an interview with Carl Hurfest.

Meanwhile at school Tegan as do deal with Solen who has decided to try and make Tegan’s life hell. After this week of hell time for the interview has finally come with Talia doing her makeup.

Tegan then goes to Joph place were she asked for help from Joph or Bethari. Joph then makes a call and gets some clothes for Tegan. Abdi then turns up to help.

She has 28 years' experience as a social worker in diverse fields of practice, including education, child, youth and family services and health services. She is National President of the Australian Association of Social Worker, and is the author of the popular Palgrave textbooks Social Work Theories in Context and Social Work Methods and Skills. Karen Healy has written 9 books. Many of her books are about help for social workers but then she wrote a book about this.
