•   The aspect of creating instructor presence using attractive and informative videos and activities. This strategy requires a lot of creativity to engage students actively to have the feeling of physical presence in an online session. 

What helpful tips or resources did you learn from your workshop peers?

• The diversity of ideas and different opinions from different perspectives. I have also learned additional technologies to be used for online teaching. 

What would you consider to be one of your strengths in teaching online? How do you plan on leveraging your strengths to maximize your students’ learning?

•  Active engagement of students in the online session. Every student should answer at least one question per session. I am planning to have various simulated case studies that can be posted on the discussion board for the maximal engagement of students.

What would you consider to be one of your challenges in teaching online? How do you plan on reducing or minimizing these challenges?

• Some relevant technologies required to improve online teaching are not freely accessible to users. It is also not available  in the institution and very expensive  for a subscription

From my understanding, incorporating relevant new technologies is essential to maximize learning efficiency.   In medical science, we do have many simulation technologies that can be employed in the teaching and learning process. It is very simple to deliver from the instructor's side and simplifies understanding new learning outcomes without much difficulty.   However, learning how to use the technologies might be very challenging. It requires a lot of dedication and interest to learn the technologies. Especially in African settings, accessing sophisticated learning technologies is very difficult due to resource constraints. Most academic institutions did not have the required learning management system because of the problems mentioned above. New technologies are also time-saving and reduce space requirements to deliver learning since they mostly require networked computer systems. However, it requires a  strong cyber security system for data protection to prevent network malware in this modern era. If we don’t have an adequate security system, we may lose all the data we have in the cloud, which is a huge loss for individuals and bigger institutions.
