It is important to follow the school/state requirements for curriculum in the classroom. These curriculums are designed for a generic whole group, here are some ways to include diversity into every day curriculum:

Include: Creating activities based on the cultural needs in your classroom (ex: if the curriculum lesson is about general holidays, allow for each student to share a holiday their family celebrates
Connect: Research how students across the world learn things that you are learning in the unit of your curriculum (ex: if you are teaching punctuation, show students examples of punctuation in other languages and how they learn things we do too)
Modify: It is always critical to modify lessons if needed so that they fit the need of your class (ex: if you are in a school that students speak Spanish and English, change parts of your writing lesson to allow students to put Spanish background and words into their writing)
Engage: One of the biggest parts of a lesson is ensuring that students are engaged; ensure that students are engaged by allowing time for discussion relating the content to their personal cultures or differences (ex: if talking about vocabulary and a Spanish speaking student knows a vocabulary word in Spanish, allow them to share the pronunciation of that word)

In order to have a fair, diverse and successful classroom, you must have the ability to engage with, and respond to your students and their cultural needs. Some ways to do this include:

Investing: Always be sure to invest in your students, get to know them, their wants and needs, their interests, this will build relationships with students and help to understand and know their needs not only academically but culturally and personally.
Modifying: When a student is struggling with something in the classroom rather it is an assignment, concept or assessment it is important to find out why and make modifications for that student such as teaching that student the concept in a different way.
Acting: When a student is facing a challenge, especially a cultural one it is important to act on it and make changes to better the students experiences and time at school.
Extending: When there is a situation, rather it is good or bad that need extra time, rather it is extra time to process or extra time to go in depth, always allow students extra time or supports.

Fostering a multicultural environment in the classroom

It is important to always ensure that students can express themselves and feel that their classroom is a safe space for them to share and express their cultural background. There are many ways to do this, a few of them include:

Allowing and planning for times and days that individual students get to share about their background, history, traditions, ect.
Ensuring that students differences are celebrated. Teach students that they are all different and that is a good thing- set a positive environment in the classroom for all students to thrive off of.
Creating opportunity for difference. Give students different options and choices for things such as projects and assignments. This will allow for students to put their own "twist" on their work and include their culture.
Allow students to express themselves, for example; if a student is Catholic and comes to school with a cross on their head for Ash Wednesday, allow them to share and not be ashamed as that is a part of their culture.

Engagement with families and communities

Many people have the misconception that school takes place only in the classroom. This is a large misconception because a huge part of school is the community and the families that are apart of the school. It is important to have engagement and communication with the community and the families of the students. Most communication comes naturally but there are many ways to ensure further communication.

Events: Always participate in events at the school, or in the community when possible. This will allow for parents to get to know the teachers and administrators better and build relationships.
Newsletters: A fun way to allow families to know what is going on in school is to create a newsletter with a student spotlight each week. This could allow students to be able to share about themselves and connect families
Volunteering: Allow for parents to come into the classroom as often as possible, this will allow for students to engage with parents and to see that their peers come from a family too, and that all families have different cultures and traditions.
In class activities: Conduct activities such as show and tell, where students can bring in objects from their life and backgrounds allowing them to share about their life and their culture with different artifacts from home.
