1) In 2004, a French engineer named Pascal Cotte used reflective light technology to uncover some of the painting's hidden secrets. He found that Leonardo had originally painted the Mona Lisa with eyebrows and eyelashes, but these had been removed over time. He also discovered that the painting had originally been much brighter than it is today, but the pigments used have faded ( зник, поблід) over time.
