Ever since he was a kid, Oscar would always be drawing. After he graduated from Barnabitas College, Rio de Janeiro in 1923, he went to work for his father in his typography house. In Oscar's life, he has been very influential in the world of architecture. He helped design the Brazillion Pavillion for the New York World Fair, the United Nations Building, and 600 other projects. Architects are not just involved in the building design phase. Their role is important in every stage of a project, and this article summarizes their responsibilities. Architects can also help improve energy efficiency, by designing buildings that maximize natural lighting and ventilation, while reducing the heating and cooling needs.
