definition: The appeal to authority red flag includes celebrity endorsement because fans of the celebrity and even non fans who are aware of the persons fame will be more inclined to believe in the persons ideas and views or trust them to be well informed and correct

connection: This video demonstrates the appeal to authority red flag because tom cruise is acting as a spokes person for scientology and their set of beliefs and ideals he's using his fame to push his personal or paid beliefs of scientology, also another red flag is money is involved we do not know is Tom cruise is being paid for his endorsement or not and further reading of the article "How scientology costs members up to millions of dollars, according to Leah Remini's Show" by Jethro Nededog of business insider a new member of the church will have to purchase the 12 basic books from the church costing around 4,000 dollars and will have to repurchase the books eery time they are updated, members are also required to attend auditing sessions which is their word for therapy sessions that cost 800 dollars an hour which seems to be steep prices for a church who's goal is to help their congregation acheive "personal fulfillment"

definition: confirmation bias is the tendency to only focus on information the proves your beliefs and ignore information that disproves it

connection: even with over whelming scientific evidence to disprove their flat earth theory they continue to come up with semi logical theories to prove their theory Is correct
such as bringing a level on a plane to prove the earth is level even though all that proved is that planes are level when at cruising altitude and levels work on the principle that the bubble In the level is lighter than the fluid causing it to rise and the fluid to fall based on gravity so by using a level to prove the earth is flat all they proved is the level was "flat" in relation to the surface of the earths centre which was always under the place while it flew around the globe.
their theory also touches on suppression by authorities in their belief that the earth being a sphere is a conspiracy created by NASA, and other various global organizations.

definition: the belief that all natural means good for you

connection: this website outlines positive and negative effects of marijuana, many cannabis users believe that it is only beneficial to the body or believe it is neither harmful or beneficial long term which isn't the case. They use the argument " its just a plant" well like the commercial tells us "so is poison ivy but it isn't good for you" people believe all natural means healthy cause were taught that natural sugars, fruits and veggies as well as free range natural beef is better for us than highly processed food which is true. the issue lies in the clever marketing of products saying all natural which makes us believe that it must also make it heathy just like fruits and veggies which isn't always the case

definition: simple answers are the easiest to understand

connection: now not to step on any toes first let me say I was raised in a Christian household and attended church and a christian elementary school for a few years. I believe religion is so widely accepted is because it gives people a easy answer for all of life's problems they can always say "oh its gods plan" it also gives people comfort in the fact that the loved once they lose are "in a better place" as well as it gives an alternate idea to the evolution theory it can be hard to understand how we all evolved from "fish" if you don't have a science background where as the idea that we were all put here exactly as we are by a divine entity is a much simpler concept to understand.
