Use of metals - how will these be sourced? This could potentially increase pressure to conduct seabed mining to extract the metals for these pesticides. Their increased solubility could subsequently exacerbate these impacts on aquatic ecosystems, so would need to be carefully controlled.

70 years ago we thought the pesticides of the time were wonderful and now we realise they do enormous damage - so nano-particles seem to be a repeat of this, using pesticides that last longer (and though at lower does, we know low doses are still harmful) - once again we think we've found a shiny solution to our self-made problem, which in time will no doubt be as bad, if not worse, than the original. Such is human nature!

I think a big problem with nano pesticides is how they are likely to stay a long time in the environment and be difficult to detect. Although currently we are not aware of whether they are dangerous or not, if they are, the time, money, resources and research needed to remove them from the environment will be very high and it could even be completely impossible to remove them.
