Virginia Woolf was a writer concerned above all with capturing in words the excitement, pain, beauty and horror of what she termed the Modern Age. Born in 1882, she was conscious of herself as a distinctively Modernist writer, at odds with a raft of the staid and complacent assumptions of 19th-century literature.

What can we learn from her creations and why is she so remarkable?

1. Notice Everything
Woolf is one of the great observers of English literature. Perhaps the finest short piece of prose she ever wrote was the essay, “The Death of the Moth,” published in 1942.

2. Accept the Everyday

Woolf was always profound, but never afraid of what others called trivial. She was confident that the ambitions of her mind – to love beauty and engage with big ideas – were completely compatible with an interest in shopping, cakes and hats, subjects on which she wrote with almost unique eloquence and depth.

3. Be a Feminist

Woolf was deeply aware that men and women fit themselves into rigid gender roles, and as they do so, overlook their fuller personalities.
Eliza Doolittle from “Pygmalion” by George Bernard Shaw

For many years, people have come to criticize other people’s aspects without being aware of why they are that way. In English society, especially during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, social status has always been viewed as something significant. In this society power was determined by the way the language was spoken, the more proper the more power. Pygmalion however, shows the relationship between two real people and how one molds the other into what they think society should see them as. In Pygmalion, George Bernard Shaw uses Eliza Doolittle’s character along with others to show a parallel between language and power.

The flower girl named Eliza, displays how Shaw uses language to influence power and society. From the beginning of the play Eliza is taken by Mr. Higgins to learn how to properly speak. As a flower girl she is seen as a part of low society that cannot interact with the higher class. The main thing that is holding her back is her dialogue. For example Eliza says “Ow, eezye-ooa san, is e? Wal, fewd dan y’ de-ooty bawmz a mather should, eed now bettern to spawl a pore gel’s flahrzn than ran awy athaht pyin. Will ye-oo py me f’them?”. In this quote it shows the natural speech that Eliza uses in her society. In this era, the high English society did not speak like this they used more complex words and pronounced them properly. This is a reason that the lower and upper class cannot mix. The lower class often used words that were used by others but in a slang sounding way so that they could speak around the upper class. Lower class had their own code. They do not understand each other’s dialogue, which influences their positions of society.

Living in poverty and struggling from day to day can be a very difficult way to live your life. Most of us, if given the opportunity, would try to make changes to our lives and our situation if we could. Pygmalion is a play by George Bernard Shaw that tells the story of a poor, young flower girl who has been disrespected and overlooked because of her appearance and the dialect she speaks.

When given the opportunity, she decides to get language lessons in order to gain the respect of others and improve her overall status in life. “If you can’t appreciate what you’ve got, you’d better get what you can appreciate.” The outcome of her training is not what she expected, and she is not only able to change her appearance and speech but also gain confidence in her own abilities. “He’s no right to take away my character.
Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013), the United Kingdom’s first female prime minister, served from 1979 until 1990. During her time in office, she reduced the influence of trade unions, privatized certain industries, scaled back public benefits and changed the terms of political debate, much like her friend and ideological ally, U.S. President Ronald Reagan. Nicknamed the “Iron Lady,” she opposed Soviet communism and fought a war to maintain control of the Falkland Islands. The longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century, Thatcher was eventually pressured into resigning by members of her own Conservative Party. The era of Thatcher was an era of change. In response to political and social turmoil of the 1970s the world of the 1980s and beyond became a very different place, but at what cost? For her it was no pain, no gain. For others, it was a brutal dissection of society. She enabled huge numbers of people to own their own homes and to benefit from shared ownership, but she stripped entire communities of their livelihood and left many feeling targeted and victimised by unfair taxation.Iron Lady' Margaret Thatcher dies at 87.

Agatha Christie , a British woman who is recognized as one of the best female crime&mistery novel writers of all time. Agatha Christie’s books are so popular among readers of all ages that the number of her sold books can compete only the Bible and William Shakespeare’s works. The name of Agatha Christie is a synonym for high-class detective story. According to Agatha Christie herself, she began to write just to imitate her sister whose stories had already been published in magazines.
The favourite personages of the "queen of detective story" are the detective Hercules Poirot and the sedate Miss Marple who carry out investigations in noisy London and delusive quiet countryside. The composition of her stories is very simple: a comparatively closed space with a limited number of characters, who are often plane or train passengers, tourists, hotel guests or residents of a cosy old village.
Once Agatha Christie wrote: "Some ten years will pass after my death, and nobody will even remember me...". The writer was mistaken.
Agatha Christie's novels are very popular now. People of all continents read and reread "The Oriental Express", "Ten Little Negroes", "The Bertram Hotel", "The Corpse in the library" and other of her novels time and again, enjoy films made by her works, and one can hardly find a country where people do not know her name.
Turarbek Dinara M1703-21

Juliet Capulet from "Romeo and Juliet"

Juliet Capulet is one of the main characters in Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet.

When we first see Juliet Cupulet we meet an Elizabethan teenager, almost fourteen years old, from a wealthy family. Her behaviour is what we would expect of a well brought-up, protected, girl without any experience of life and dependent on the elders around her. She is innocent, modest, and docile, somewhat reserved in the presence of adults and respectful of her mother’s authority.
Before long, though, we see another side to her – a side the adults responsible for her seem unaware of in the early scenes of the play. Meeting Romeo Montague and the swift events that follow bring out the real Juliet with qualities that have been lying dormant, but are now sparked by a powerful hormonal surge. We begin to see what lies beneath that exterior – qualities ripe for development: intelligence, a passionate nature, courage and determination, and unwavering commitment.
She develops, at lightning speed, she moves into the realm of being one of Shakespeare’s strong women. The demure, respectful obedient girl’s inner strength now comes fully into play. She is the one who proposes the marriage, with complete confidence that it’s what she wants. We then see her defying her father when he demands that she marry Paris – something that takes him by surprise, and that he is unable to cope with, leading him to resort to violence. Juliet’s father is a tough, successful man of the world and she is a cosseted teenage girl but she stands up to him in a way that even her fiery cousin, Tybald, is afraid to.
One of the reasons I think that Romeo and Juliet has been so successful over the past four centuries is that it has Juliet Capulet as one of its protagonists. Her striking intelligence, steely determination, sharp self-awareness and remarkable courage place her at the very top of the league of powerful Shakespearean women.

M1703-21 group
Rakhym Nazerke

Why did I choose her?

Iron character
Even during the war, Audrey tried to help the family financially. Having been actively engaged in ballet since early childhood, by adolescence the future actress had already become a qualified ballerina.
Despite her hunger, Hepburn gave dance lessons.
Willpower also manifested itself in studies. Audrey was fluent in five languages— Dutch, English, French, Spanish and Italian.
The most accurate description of the life principles of the famous actress is her own phrase: "I believe that you need to be strong when it seems that everything is going wrong."
Goodwill Ambassador
A difficult childhood made Audrey Hepburn a fighter for peace — she devoted 38 years of her life to work in an international organization operating under the auspices of the United Nations, UNICEF. At first, she helped draw attention to the problems, taking advantage of her popularity.
"I saw how tiny mountain communities, slums and spontaneous settlements somehow miraculously got water supply systems for the first time, and this miracle was UNICEF. I saw how children built their own schools out of bricks and cement provided by UNICEF," she said about the results of her activities.
The little weaknesses of a great woman
Even in early childhood, Hepburn was fond of drawing. As she grew older, she developed an interest in needlework. So, from the pictures of those times it is known that in between filming the actress knitted a lot. Gardening helped to distract from work. By the way, in 1990, a new hybrid breed of tulips was named in honor of Audrey Hepburn.

I even find it difficult to name my favorite movie.. "Roman Holidays", "Sabrina", "The Story of a Nun", "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "My Fair Lady",....... - in each of these films, Audrey is simply gorgeous! Each of these pictures has long become the standard of its genre, a completely unattainable model for modern cinema! Natural, relaxed elegance; unselfishness and sincerity in every movement, look, thought; surprisingly deep and "pure" look; the embodiment of the most beautiful human qualities - this is all Audrey Hepburn!

KALDARBEKOVA ZHANSAYA
M1703-21 GROUP

Diana, Princess of Wales was a member of the British royal family. She was the first wife of the King Charles III and mother of Princes William and Harry. Diana's activism and glamour made her an international icon and earned her enduring popularity as well as almost unprecedented public scrutiny.
Diana had many fine traits that were evident both in public and in private: warmth, sweetness, affection, femininity, naturalness, grace, sensitivity, reserve, humility, wit, instinctive sympathy, thoughtfulness, generosity, kindness, courtesy, resilience, exuberance, energy, self-discipline, courage. "The nice side of her was fresh and unspoiled and almost childlike," said Nicholas Haslam. "Her nature was spontaneous."
She was endowed with undeniable attributes. Her beauty was singular, especially her big blue eyes, the most expressive of all facial features. "They look so wondering and modest" a Norwegian photographer once remarked. Her height (five foot ten) and lithe figure allowed her to carry clothing exquisitely. If she had been a haughty ice queen, or even strikingly confident, her appeal would have been limited. What made her so charismatic was the combination of her looks and her air of accessibility. "She has a sympathetic face," her father once said, "the sort that you can't help but trust."

M1703-11
Abakayeva Z

Nancy Astor: The first lady of British politics

When American-born English socialite Nancy Astor entered the House of Commons on 1 December 1919, she became the first female MP in British history to take a seat in parliament.

She was elected to Parliament for Plymouth Sutton in November 1919, replacing her husband who had previously been the MP.

Nancy Witcher Langhorne was born in Danville, Virginia in 1879, the eighth of eleven children born to railroad businessman Chiswell Dabney Langhorne and his wife Nancy Witcher Keene.

Nancy quickly became known for her outspoken views of specific issues, including advocating women’s rights and stricter restrictions on alcohol. Yet, despite claiming to be an ardent feminist, suffrage campaigners were initially dismayed that the first female MP had never had ties to their movement. Here are some of her quotes:

“We women talk too much, but even then we don't tell half what we know.”

“Real education should educate us out of self into something far finer; into a selflessness which links us with all humanity.”

“Women have got to make the world safe for men since men have made it so darned unsafe for women.”

On 24 February 1920, Nancy stood alone amongst an audience of over 500, mostly hostile, male MPs to deliver her maiden speech. In her speech she referred to the fact that some women over the age of 30 could now vote in Britain: ‘You must remember that women have got a vote now and we mean to use it, and use it wisely’ and also spoke about the perils of drinking, emphasising the damage it caused to women and children, as well as the economic cost to the country, and appealing for stricter restrictions on the drinking hours that had come into effect during the First World War.

Nancy spent almost two years as the only woman in the House of Commons against a backdrop of sexism and, often, outright resentment. Active both inside and outside of government she supported welfare reforms and equal voting rights and was also supportive of other female MPs, regardless of political party. During this period Nancy also advocated the development and expansion of nursery schools for children’s education and she worked to recruit women into the civil service, the police force, education reform and the House of Lords. She was also concerned about the treatment of juvenile victims of crime.

M 1703-81
Gavkhar Ubaeva

Elizabeth II, in full Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, officially Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms and territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, (born April 21, 1926, London, England—died September 8, 2022, Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire, Scotland), queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from February 6, 1952, to September 8, 2022. In 2015 she surpassed Victoria to become the longest-reigning monarch in British history. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her life and served as monarch of 15 of them at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days is the longest of any British monarch and the longest recorded of any female head of state in history.

Apart from the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II is also Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Bermuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis, where she is represented by Governors-General. The sixteen countries of which she is Queen are known as Commonwealth Realms, and their combined population is 128 million.

She is presently the world's only monarch who is simultaneously Head of State of more than one independent nation. In legal theory she is the most powerful head of state in the world, although in practice she personally exercises very little political executive power.

She became Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon upon the death of her father, George VI, on 6 February 1952. As other colonies of the British Empire attained independence from the UK during her reign, she acceded to the newly created thrones as Queen of each respective realm so that throughout her 60 years on the throne she has been Monarch of 32 nations, half of which either moved to different royal houses, or became republics.

Elizabeth also holds the positions of Head of the Commonwealth, Lord High Admiral, Supreme Governor of the Church of England (styled Defender of the Faith), Lord of Mann, and Paramount Chief of Fiji. Following tradition, she is also styled Duke of Lancaster and Duke of Normandy.

Elizabeth is the second-longest-reigning current recognised head of state in the world and the joint first-longest serving British monarch. Her reign of over half a century has seen eleven different Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and numerous Prime Ministers in the Commonwealth Realms of which she is (or was) also Head of State; between them she has had a total of 138 Prime Ministers during her reign.
Elizabeth II was died 8 September, 2022.

Kanayeva Balnur, M1703-21 group

In the early phase of her leadership, she could be described as resilient; she seemed open to advice and consultation from her colleagues and aides, she was clear on the outcomes that she wanted to achieve but also open to alternative suggestions and to learning. She was willing to listen and face up to her critics. Resilience is a vital characteristic for leaders of any kind and one that can be maintained simply. In May’s case, there are significant changes that need to be made under her leadership, and the main one (leaving the E.U.) is certainly not popular with everyone. As she, and those she works closely with, prepare their strategy and timeline for leaving the E.U., there are sure to be many road blocks.

There is no one "typical" British woman, as there are many diverse cultures and ethnicities represented in the UK. However, broadly speaking, British women can be described as being typically feminine and elegant in appearance, with a natural sense of style.
Elizabeth Bennet, Eliza or just Lizzy can be one of the representers of typical British woman.
"Her face is too thin; her complexion has no brilliancy; and her features are not at all handsome. Her nose wants character; there is nothing marked in its lines. Her teeth are tolerable, but not out of the common way; and as for her eyes, which have sometimes been called so fine, I never could perceive any thing extraordinary in them. They have a sharp, shrewish look, which I do not like at all; and in her air altogether, there is a self-sufficiency without fashion which is intolerable." That's how Caroline Bingley described the portrayal of her appearance.
In the novel, Elizabeth was described to be the second most beautiful of the five Bennet sisters, with a graceful and attractive figure, highly intelligent features, and beautiful expressive dark eyes that caught even Mr. Darcy's admiration.
Elizabeth is an exceptionally intelligent, witty, and talented young woman who is described as having "a lively playful disposition that delighted in anything ridiculous". Though her manners could be just as flawless as those of Jane's, they were often tempered with a playful, good-natured impertinence that was endearing instead of offensive. She is also able to play the pianoforte and sing like Mary, though her performances, despite being "by no means capital", are still described as so "pleasing" that others found it a true pleasure to listen to, which was a sharp contrast to Mary's abysmal musical performances.
M1703-21 group
Irismetova Lobar

Aphra Behn 14 December 1640 – 16 April 1689) was an English playwright, poet, prose writer and translator from the Restoration era. As one of the first English women to earn her living by her writing, she broke cultural barriers and served as a literary role model for later generations of women authors. Rising from obscurity, she came to the notice of Charles II, who employed her as a spy in Antwerp. Upon her return to London and a probable brief stay in debtors' prison, she began writing for the stage. She belonged to a coterie of poets and famous libertinessuch as John Wilmot, Lord Rochester. Behn wrote under the pastoral pseudonym Astrea. During the turbulent political times of the Exclusion Crisis, she wrote an epilogue and prologue that brought her into legal trouble; she thereafter devoted most of her writing to prose genres and translations. A staunch supporter of the Stuart line, she declined an invitation from Bishop Burnet to write a welcoming poem to the new king William III. She died shortly after.
She is remembered in Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own: "All women together ought to let flowers fall upon the tomb of Aphra Behn which is, most scandalously but rather appropriately, in Westminster Abbey, for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds."Her grave is not included in the Poets' Corner but lies in the East Cloister near the steps to the church.

Her best-known works are Oroonoko: or, the Royal Slave, sometimes described as an early novel, and the play The Rover. Although Behn's writings show some form of education, it is not clear how she obtained the education that she did. It was somewhat taboo for women at the time to receive a formal education, Janet Todd notes. Although some aristocratic girls in the past had been able to receive some form of education, that was most likely not the case for Aphra Behn, based on the time she lived. Self-tuition was practised by European women during the 17th century, but it relied on the parents to allow that to happen. She most likely spent time copying poems and other writings, which not only inspired her but educated her. It is important to note that Aphra was not alone in her quest of self-tuition during this time period, and there are other notable women, such as the first female medical doctor Dorothea Leporinwho made efforts to self-educate.
Khalkulova Ugilzhan
M1703-21

Catherine, The Princess of Wales, born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton is a member of the British royal family, married Prince William, The Prince of Wales, at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. Their Royal Highnesses have three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The fans of British Royal family loves Kate Middleton. There are several reasons to love her:

Her elegance – It doesn’t matter whether she’s out in the rain celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, attending a dinner party with the President of the USA or shopping at her local supermarket the Duchess of Cambridge looks effortlessly elegant and sophisticated all the time.

She’s charitable – Her newly-acquired position within the Royal Family has enabled Kate to publicly back a number of charities that are close to her heart. These range from local children’s hospitals to art-based charities.

She’s a family girl – Like ourselves, Kate is a family girl at heart. Not only was she ben there for Pippa during the whole fake gun in Paris affair but she still holidays with her family. It’s clear that she has also been welcomed into the Royal Family with open arms and gets on well with all her new relatives including Prince Harry.

Her love for Prince William – So we’d probably still go for Prince Harry out of the two but with Kate around we have started to see Prince William in a new light. He’s a gentleman who clearly dotes over his new wife. And you can see that she adores and loves him too by the way she looks at him.

Her style – Nobody, except Vivienne Westwood who we reckon is just talking rubbish, would dare deny that Kate has an incredible sense of style. From her gorgeous Alexander McQueen wedding dress to her cowboy-inspired attire for America, we adore all of her wardrobe choices. The fact that she mixes designer with high street and recycles her dresses makes us love her even more

Her accessibility – Out of all of the Royals, Kate seems to be the most accessible. It’s like she’s one of the girls, except for the fact that she’s a Duchess and could literally get anything she wants. But the thing is she doesn’t act that way. She seems like the girl next door who could be your style icon and best friend all in one.

She’s a real-life Princess – Since time began there has been the fairy-tale of the ordinary girl turned Princess who meets her Prince Charming, falls madly in love and lives happily ever after. Until Kate came along we’d started to lose faith in this ideal. But she’s proof that it is possible.

I have seen that experiences such as homelessness, addiction, and poor mental health are often grounded in a difficult childhood. But I have also seen, how positive protective factors in the early years can play a critical role in shaping our futures too. - The Princess of Wales

She is awesome, isn’t she? 😌

M1703-21, Yskak Sabina

Kate Winslet, in full Kate Elizabeth Winslet, (born October 5, 1975, Reading, Berkshire, England), English actress known for her sharply drawn portrayals of spirited and unusual women.
Winslet was raised in a family of actors. She began performing at an early age, taking small parts in commercials, television shows, and stage plays. Her first major role was in director Peter Jackson’s drama Heavenly Creatures (1994). The film, based on the Pauline Parker–Juliet Hulme case in New Zealand, depicted the obsessive fantasy life of two adolescent girls and their eventual murder of Parker’s mother. In 1995 Winslet appeared in an adaptation of the Jane Austen novel Sense and Sensibility; the film was written by actress Emma Thompson and directed by Ang Lee. Winslet’s turn as Marianne Dashwood, a young woman set financially and romantically adrift by the circumstances of her father’s death, brought her to the attention of a larger audience and earned her an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress. Winslet then starred in another literary adaptation, Jude (1996), which was based on Thomas Hardy’s novel Jude the Obscure (1895). Winslet solidified her burgeoning reputation for taking period roles by portraying Ophelia in Kenneth Branagh’s production of Hamlet (1996).
In 1997 Winslet became an international star with the release of director James Cameron’s Titanic, an epic that innovatively blended a conventional romantic story line with the large-scale computer-generated special effects normally reserved for action movies. Winslet portrayed heroine Rose DeWitt Bukater, a wealthy, idealistic young woman who pursues a brief, passionate affair with Jack Dawson, a struggling artist played by Leonardo DiCaprio. The film set box-office records, and Winslet received her second Oscar nomination.
Again demonstrating a proclivity for idiosyncratic choices, Winslet portrayed a woman who has the memories of a painful relationship erased by a new medical procedure in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), earning her yet another Academy Award nomination. In Little Children (2006) she appeared as a housewife whose frustration with the tedium of her suburban existence results in an adulterous affair. Winslet earned her fifth Academy Award nomination for that performance; she was the youngest actress to have received that many nominations. She turned to lighter matters with the romantic comedy The Holiday (2006) and Flushed Away (2006), a computer-animated adventure for which she provided the voice of a rat.
A 2008 adaptation of Richard Yates’s novel Revolutionary Road again paired Winslet and DiCaprio, this time as an unconventional couple attempting to buck the restrictive mores of 1950s suburbia. The film was directed by Winslet’s husband, Sam Mendes, whom she had married in 2003 (they divorced in 2010). In The Reader (2008), Winslet explored the ethical complexities of the Holocaust as an illiterate concentration camp guard. For her performances in Revolutionary Road and The Reader, Winslet won Golden Globe Awards for best actress and best supporting actress, respectively. For her work in The Reader she also earned her first Academy Award (for best actress).

Begmanova Balzhan
M1703-11

Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime and 15 at the time of her death.[a] Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest verified reign of any monarch in history. Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother). Her father acceded to the throne in 1936 upon the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII, making Princess Elizabeth the heir presumptive. She was educated privately at home and began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, and their marriage lasted 73 years until his death in 2021. They had four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward.

Victoria was the daughter of Edward, Duke of Kent, the fourth son of George III. Both of them died in 1820, and Victoria grew up under the control of her German mother Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. She inherited the throne at the age of 18 after the deaths of her uncles who left no legitimate descendants: Duke Frederick of York, Kings George IV and William IV. By this time, the United Kingdom represented an established constitutional monarchy, where the king had virtually no political power; nevertheless, Victoria tried to influence government policy and ministerial appointments. For the people, she became a national symbol and was considered a person of strict morality.

In 1840 Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. The marriages of their nine children with representatives of royal and noble families strengthened the ties between the dynasties of Europe and brought Victoria the nickname "Grandmother of Europe". When Albert died in 1861, Victoria went into mourning and stopped appearing in public. As a result, republicanism gained strength, but later the queen's popularity recovered. The golden and diamond anniversaries of Queen Victoria were celebrated throughout the empire.

Victoria remained on the throne for 63 years, 7 months and 2 days, which at that time was the longest reign among the British monarchs, later Elizabeth II surpassed her in terms of the duration of her reign. The Victorian era was a period of industrial, cultural, political, scientific and military development of Great Britain and the time of the greatest flourishing of the British Empire. She was the last monarch of Great Britain from the Hanoverian dynasty. Her son and heir Edward VII belonged on his father's side to the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha dynasty.

Anapyayeva Kassiyet
M1703-11

This was the first appearance of Hercule Poirot, who became one of the most famous private detectives after Sherlock Holmes. This little Belgian with an egg-shaped head and a passion for discipline amazes everyone with his strong mind and brilliant solutions to the most complex crimes.

Agatha Christie received universal recognition in 1926 after the publication of the novel "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd". It is still considered his masterpiece. When Agatha Christie got bored with Hercule Poirot, she invented a deceptively meek old lady, Mrs. Marple, with her method of investigation.

Her last book about Poirot, The Curtain, appeared shortly before his death, and his last story about Miss Marple, Murder in a dream, and his autobiography were published posthumously.

Agatha Christie's success for millions of readers lies in her ability to combine witty plots with a wonderful sample of characters, with great control over a sense of humor. His plots always mislead the reader and keep him in suspense. He cannot predict the identity of the criminal. Fortunately, evil always wins in his novels.

Agatha Christie's language is simple and good, her books are pleasant to read in the original.

M1704-12 Tabyldy Aidana

Kate Elizabeth Winslet born 5 October 1975) is an English actress. Known for her work in independent films particularly period dramas and for her portrayals of headstrong and complicated women, she has received numerous accolades including an Academy Award a Grammy Award two Primetime Emmy Awards five BAFTA Awards and five Golden Globe Awards.Time magazine named Winslet one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2009 and 2021. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2012.

Global stardom followed with her leading role in James Cameron's epic romance Titanic (1997), which was the highest-grossing film at the time.

Winslet was keen on playing Rose DeWitt Bukater, a socialite aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic, in James Cameron's epic romance Titanic (1997). Cameron was initially reluctant to cast her, preferring the likes of Claire Danes and Gwyneth Paltrow, but she pleaded with him, "You don't understand! I am Rose! I don't know why you're even seeing anyone else!"Her persistence led him to give her the part.Leonardo DiCaprio featured as her love interest, Jack. Titanic had a production budget of $200 million, and its arduous principal photography was held at Baja Studios where a replica of the ship was created.Filming proved taxing for Winslet; she almost drowned, caught influenza, suffered from hypothermia, and had bruises on her arms and knees. The workload allowed her only four hours of sleep per day and she felt drained by the experience.Writing for Newsweek, David Ansen commended Winslet for capturing her character's zeal with delicacy, and Mike Clark of USA Today considered her to be the film's prime asset.Against expectations, Titanic went on to become the highest-grossing film to that point, earning over $2 billion in box office receipts worldwide and established Winslet as a global star. The film won eleven Academy Awards—tied for most for a single film—including Best Picture and earned the 22-year-old Winslet a nomination for Best Actress. She also received Golden Globe and SAG nominations for Best Actress.

Winslet did not view Titanic as a platform for bigger salaries. She avoided parts in blockbuster films in favour of independent productions that were not widely seen, believing that she "still had a lot to learn" and was unprepared to be a star. She later said her decision ensured career longevity.Hideous Kinky, a low-budget drama shot before the release of Titanic, was Winslet's sole film release of 1998.She turned down offers to star in Shakespeare in Love (1998) and Anna and the King (1999) to do the film.Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Esther Freud, Hideous Kinky tells the story of a single British mother yearning for a new life in 1970s Morocco.Janet Maslin of The New York Times praised Winslet's decision to follow-up Titanic with such an offbeat project, and took note of how well she had captured her character's "obliviousness and optimism".

M1703-12K

Mengdibekova Akmarzhan

I would like to talk about Miss Marple, I know she is a fictional character but for me she is the real British Lady. Her lifestyle, attitude, clothing style and her way of speaking.

Miss Marple lives in the fictional village of St. Mary Mead. Her home is modest, reflecting her status as an elderly spinster, and is often characterized by quaint decor and a well-kept garden. She is an active member of her community, participating in local events and activities. Despite her age, she remains engaged and observant, often picking up on the subtleties of village life.

Miss Marple's wardrobe is typically modest and practical, consisting of well-tailored dresses, cardigans, and sensible shoes. her clothing often features floral patterns, reflecting her gentle personality. She is often seen with a hat, gloves, and a handbag, emphasizing her traditional British style. Her attire is both functional and understated, suitable for her village life.

she is empathetic towards others, often seeing the good in people, even those who might be considered suspicious. This compassion helps her to connect with witnesses and suspects alike.

Miss Marple speaks in a soft, gentle voice, often using polite language and a slightly old-fashioned manner of speaking. She employs a mix of colloquialisms and refined English, reflecting her upbringing. Despite her serious undertakings, she often uses humor to disarm those around her and gain their trust. Her subtle wit is a hallmark of her character.

and one thing you have to notice about her is her patience. as Agatha Christie describes her in books she often takes her time to observe and gather information, believing that understanding people is key to solving crimes and Miss Marple remains calm in the face of danger or intrigue, maintaining a level-headed approach to solving mysteries.

The first English lady is often considered to be Queen Elizabeth II due to her long-standing role as the face of the British monarchy and her global recognition. She reigned for 70 years, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history, and was a symbol of continuity, leadership, and tradition. Her influence extended far beyond the United Kingdom, as she was head of the Commonwealth, overseeing a vast number of countries and territories.

Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, in London to the Duke and Duchess of York and was the elder of two daughters. A representative of the Windsor dynasty, she was named Elizabeth Alexandra Mary at her christening in Buckingham Palace (in honor of her mother, great-grandmother, and grandmother). After her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated the throne in 1936 to marry twice-divorced American Wallis Simpson, her parents became King George VI and Queen Consort. Thus, Elizabeth became first in line to the throne of the Kingdom.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was crowned as a young woman at the age of 25. King George VI, Elizabeth’s father, passed away suddenly while on an official visit to Kenya in 1952. Many residents of Britain believe that ruling the country is a heavy burden, one which Elizabeth II managed exceptionally well.

Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II was often seen as the embodiment of British values and culture. Her public service, dedication, and ability to adapt to changing times contributed to her image as the quintessential “first lady” of England, representing the country to the world. Her presence in international affairs, as well as her role in maintaining British customs and stability, made her a central figure not only in the monarchy but also in the wider perception of English identity.

When I think of someone who represents the kind of person I admire most, I think of Emma Watson. She has a way of carrying herself that feels both graceful and strong, as if elegance and determination exist side by side. She is not just known for her talent on screen, but for the thoughtful way she has shaped her life and influence.

What I find most inspiring about her is how she uses her voice beyond acting. She speaks about equality, education, and fairness with sincerity, and she does it in a way that feels natural, not forced. Her words remind me that real strength is quiet and steady, not loud or showy. There is a dignity in the way she stands for something larger than herself, and that is what makes her unforgettable to me.

She also shows that intelligence and ambition can be lived out fully without losing warmth or kindness. Choosing to pursue education while maintaining her career proves that knowledge and curiosity are just as important as success. To me, that balance is what makes her an ideal figure: she shows that it is possible to be both accomplished and deeply thoughtful at the same time.

Emma Watson is, for me, the image of a person who inspires not by perfection, but by authenticity. She represents the idea that true beauty lies in conviction, in intelligence, and in the quiet confidence to remain yourself in every situation. That is why she feels like my ideal person - someone who reminds me of what I hope to become.

believe Emma Watson is the perfect example of a modern British lady. She grew up in the spotlight through her role as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter, but what inspires me most is how she chose to use that fame responsibly. Instead of simply staying in the entertainment world, she focused on her education at Oxford and Brown University, proving that intelligence and self-discipline are just as important as talent and beauty.

For me, Emma represents elegance in its truest form not just how she looks, but how she behaves. She is always graceful, well-spoken, and polite, yet she has a strong and independent character. She’s not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, like when she became a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and launched the “HeForShe” campaign. That courage and sense of duty make her so much more than just a famous actress.

What I admire most is the balance she shows between tradition and modernity. She has the poise, refinement, and dignity we usually associate with the “classic British lady,” but at the same time she is forward-thinking, progressive, and real. She can be glamorous on the red carpet, but also relatable and down-to-earth in interviews.

To me, Emma Watson is the British ideal lady because she embodies intelligence, kindness, confidence, and style. She shows that being a lady today is not only about appearance or manners, but also about having values, strength, and the determination to make a difference in the world.

Professor McGonagall

Professor Minerva McGonagall, a fictional character from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, can also be seen as one of the representations of a typical British figure. She is portrayed as a strict but fair teacher, elegant in her appearance and manner, and highly disciplined in everything she does. McGonagall embodies the traditional image of the British schoolmistress: reserved, proper, and deeply respectful of rules and traditions. Her sharp wit and subtle humour reflect the well-known British sense of irony, while her calm leadership in moments of crisis illustrates the national spirit of “Keep Calm and Carry On.”

Although she often appears stern, McGonagall’s quiet compassion and loyalty to her students reveal a softer side, showing the balance between discipline and care.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, born in 1988 in Tottenham, London, is one of the most celebrated British singers and songwriters of our time. She grew up in a modest family, raised by a single mother, and her story shows how talent and determination can lead to global success. With her debut album 19, she captured the attention of the world, and later albums like 21, 25, and 30 brought her not only commercial success but also critical acclaim, including multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and even a Golden Globe.

What makes Adele truly remarkable is not just her powerful voice, but her authenticity. Unlike many global celebrities, she has never tried to fit into artificial standards. She often speaks in her natural London accent, is open about her personal struggles, and jokes with her audience as if they are close friends. She once said: “I don’t make music for the eyes. I make music for the ears.” This shows her honesty and her focus on real art rather than superficial appearances.

For me, Adele is the ideal British woman because her music connects deeply with people’s emotions. When I listen to her songs, I feel like she gives voice to feelings I sometimes cannot express myself. Her songs about heartbreak, resilience, and hope are like reflections of my own inner world. For example, in “Someone Like You”, she sings about letting go but still cherishing love — and that resonates with the way I sometimes feel about people and experiences in my life.

What makes her special for me is not only her talent but also her ability to remain humble despite her worldwide fame. She is proud of her roots and shows that even ordinary beginnings can lead to extraordinary achievements.

She works very hard to improve herself and never gives up, even when things are difficult. Her quick learning and clever answers show that she is not only beautiful but also smart. She also represents elegance. After her transformation, she speaks with grace and behaves with dignity. But what makes her truly special is that she never loses her strong personality. In interviews and public appearances, she comes across as warm, respectful, and approachable. Her ability to take on both historical and modern roles highlights the balance between tradition and modernity, a key quality of the ideal English woman.

Another reason why I consider her an ideal English lady is her elegance and style.

For me, Gwendoline Christie is a perfect example of a British lady, especially through her unforgettable role as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. What makes her stand out is that she redefines what it means to be a lady. Instead of following traditional ideas of beauty and elegance, she shows strength, honor, and loyalty — qualities that are deeply respected in British culture.

In Game of Thrones, Brienne is brave, noble, and utterly devoted to her moral code. She protects the weak, fights for justice, and stays true to her promises, even when others laugh at her. This sense of honor and loyalty reminds me of the chivalric tradition of medieval Britain — knights, duty, and integrity.

At the same time, Gwendoline Christie herself embodies many traits of a British lady. She is elegant, well-spoken, and highly professional as an actress. Despite playing a warrior on screen, she brings sophistication and grace to public appearances, often admired for her unique fashion style.

I consider her “perfectly British” because she combines tradition with modernity: Brienne of Tarth is a warrior, but also a true lady at heart. She shows that being British is not only about refinement and manners but also about courage, loyalty, and staying true to one’s values.

She can look glamorous on the red carpet, but at the same time, she has a natural, friendly personality. This balance of sophistication and simplicity makes her, in my opinion, a perfect British lady.

If I had to describe the perfect British lady, I would choose Jane Austen. She is not just one of the most famous English writers, but also a symbol of elegance, wit, and intelligence.

For me, Jane Austen represents the perfect British lady because she combined traditional manners with independent thinking. She lived in the 18th–19th century, when women did not have many opportunities, but through her novels she showed that women have sharp minds, strong opinions, and a sense of humor.

Her characters, like Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, reflect qualities we often think of as very British: politeness, self-control, clever conversation, and a bit of irony. Austen herself had these qualities. She never married, but she created love stories that are still read all over the world. That shows her strength and originality.

I also think Jane Austen is perfectly British because of her style. She focused on everyday life, family relations, and society rules—things that were, and still are, central to British culture. At the same time, she could laugh at people’s weaknesses in a very polite and charming way.

So, for me, Jane Austen is the perfect British lady—not because of her looks or social status, but because of her intelligence, her independence, and her very British sense of humor.

The Perfect British Woman – Jane Eyre

For me, the perfect British woman is Jane Eyre, the main character of Charlotte Bronte’s novel Jane Eyre.

Jane comes from a poor background and faces many difficulties in her life — she loses her parents, grows up in a strict orphan school, and works as a governess. But despite all these challenges, she never gives up her dignity or moral values.

What makes Jane Eyre perfectly British for me is her independence, honesty, and inner strength. She refuses to marry Mr. Rochester when she discovers he already has a wife, even though she loves him deeply. This shows that she values principles and self-respect more than comfort or passion. Later, when she returns to him, it is her free choice, based on love and equality.

I admire Jane Eyre because she is not only polite and well-mannered, but also brave and true to herself. She proves that being a perfect woman is not about beauty or wealth, but about integrity, independence, and moral courage. That is why I consider Jane Eyre the perfect British woman.

Why Margaret Thatcher is perfect British lady for me:

1. Trailblazer in Politics

First woman to become Prime Minister of the UK (1979–1990).

Broke barriers in a male-dominated political world, showing that women could lead at the highest level.

2. Strength and Determination

Nicknamed the “Iron Lady” because of her firmness, decisiveness, and no-nonsense style.

Stood her ground both at home and abroad, e.g., during the Falklands War (1982) and Cold War relations with the USSR.

3. British Values Embodied

Known for her discipline, patriotism, and belief in self-reliance.

Her famous line: “There is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families.” — reflects her belief in personal responsibility, a very British ideal of independence.

4. Elegance and Image

Always maintained a polished, dignified appearance (the pearls, handbags, and tailored suits became her signature style).

Balanced being authoritative with maintaining the image of a traditional “lady.”

5. Global Influence

Worked closely with world leaders like Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, shaping late 20th-century global politics.

She projected an image of British power and resilience internationally.

6. Symbol of Female Empowerment

For women in Britain and beyond, she showed that gender need not limit ambition.

Whether people agreed with her policies or not, she proved a woman could dominate the world stage.

Of course, she was also very controversial — many criticized her economic policies (“Thatcherism”) for widening inequality and weakening social support systems. But even her opponents admit she was strong, intelligent, and iconic — qualities that make her fit the image of a “perfect British lady” in terms of leadership, style, and influence.

Dua Lipa isn’t just a global pop star — she’s a proud product of modern Britain. From her London upbringing to her effortless style, sharp wit, and fearless individuality, Dua captures the spirit of a new generation of British women: confident, cultured, and completely original.

Dua was born in London, and it shows in everything she does — the attitude, the accent, the style. She grew up in Camden, one of the city’s most vibrant and eclectic areas, and that energy is in her DNA. There’s a quiet toughness about her that reflects the London girl who had to hustle to get noticed, and never lost her roots even as she went global.

Her British accent alone has people swooning. But it’s more than that — Dua speaks with that classic British mix of clarity, calm, and confidence. She’s well-spoken, witty, and never afraid to say what she thinks, but she does it with poise — no drama, no excess. Just classic British cool.

Modern Britain is multicultural, globally engaged, and proud of it — just like Dua. While she embraces her Albanian heritage with pride, she also carries herself as a citizen of British culture: progressive, open-minded, and thoughtful. Her interviews reflect a grounded, well-rounded view of the world — not loud, but intelligent and intentional.

When I think about the idea of a perfect British lady, Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice immediately comes to mind. She is not “perfect” in the sense of being flawless—she has her prejudices and moments of pride—but she represents the qualities that make her so unmistakably British.

Elizabeth is witty, intelligent, and confident in her opinions. She has the courage to speak her mind, even when it is not expected of women in her time. At the same time, she carries herself with grace and politeness, which is a very British trait: you can disagree with someone, but you do it with manners.

What makes Elizabeth so admirable is her balance. She values honesty and independence, but she also respects tradition and family duty. She isn’t afraid to turn down a marriage proposal, even though it would secure her future, because she believes in marrying for love, not convenience. That independence of thought shows strength and dignity—something I connect with the idea of a true British lady.

To me, Elizabeth Bennet is “perfectly British” because she combines charm, wit, and self-respect. She teaches us that being a lady is not about following rules blindly, but about carrying yourself with confidence, intelligence, and kindness.

For me, an ideal English lady is Princess Diana. She represents not only the grace and elegance usually associated with British royalty but also warmth, kindness, and humanity. Known as the “People’s Princess,” Diana combined the traditional image of an English lady with modern values of empathy and openness. What makes her truly representative is the way she balanced her public role and her personal character. On the one hand, she had the refined manners, elegant style, and sense of duty expected from a member of the royal family. On the other hand, she showed compassion by engaging in charitable work, supporting people with HIV/AIDS, and campaigning against landmines.

For many people around the world, Diana symbolized the English rose — beautiful, delicate, yet strong and inspiring. She changed the perception of what it means to be a royal and an English lady: not distant and cold, but approachable, caring, and human. That is why, for me, Princess Diana is the perfect example of an English lady.

J.K. Rowling: Magic, Influence, and the Cost of a Public Voice

In a quiet café in Edinburgh, a young single mother scribbled notes on napkins while her baby slept beside her. What she wrote would soon enchant the world. That woman was J.K. Rowling, and her story is one of resilience, imagination, and the deep power of words to change lives.

With the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997, Rowling gave readers something more than a book — she gave them a world. A world where love was stronger than death, where the lonely could find friendship, and where even the smallest, most ordinary person could change the course of history. Through seven novels, she told a story that comforted, inspired, and shaped the childhoods of millions. For many, Hogwarts felt more like home than any place in the real world.

But Rowling’s impact didn’t stop at the page. She sparked a cultural movement. Midnight book launches became global celebrations. Children who had never loved reading before now stayed up late turning pages by flashlight. Her work revived fantasy literature and created a universe that grew beyond books — into films, plays, theme parks, and memories shared by generations.

Her success became a symbol of hope: that from rock bottom, one could rise. That stories can heal, and that magic — in its purest form — is believing in something bigger than ourselves.

Yet in recent years, that image has become more complicated. Rowling’s public comments about gender identity have stirred deep pain and division, especially among the LGBTQ+ community. Fans who once saw her as a voice of acceptance felt betrayed. The world she created, which taught us to stand up for the vulnerable, suddenly felt fractured.

And so, her legacy lives in tension — between admiration and disappointment, inspiration and conflict. Can we love the world she gave us, while questioning the words she now speaks? It’s a question many readers struggle with.

Still, there is something undeniably human in Rowling’s story. She is not a perfect heroine, but a woman who dreamed something beautiful into existence. Her books taught us to be brave, to speak truth, and to fight for what’s right — even when it’s hard.

J.K. Rowling gave the world a kind of magic that can’t be undone. And whether we see her as a creator, a controversy, or both, her story reminds us that words matter — and that behind every story is a person, full of contradictions, just like the rest of us.

The Perfect British Woman

When people speak about the ideal of a “perfect British woman,” many qualities come to mind: elegance, kindness, intelligence, and a balance between tradition and modern life. For me, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, represents this ideal in a remarkable way.

Kate embodies elegance without arrogance. Her style is graceful, yet never ostentatious, reflecting the timeless British sense of class. Whether she is attending a royal event or spending time with her children, she always appears dignified and approachable. She has become a global symbol of refined simplicity, admired for dressing beautifully while still remaining practical and relatable.

What makes her especially admirable is her character. Kate is known for her warmth, kindness, and natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She does not just play a ceremonial role; she takes genuine interest in the lives of others, particularly in her charitable work. Her focus on mental health, early childhood development, and family well-being shows her compassion and dedication to improving society.

At the same time, she is intelligent and strong. Kate graduated from the University of St Andrews, where she studied art history, and she has used her education and discipline to fulfill the challenging responsibilities of public life. She balances her role as a modern woman with the demands of being part of the royal family — something that requires resilience, patience, and tact.

Perhaps her most admirable quality is her devotion to family. As a wife to Prince William and a mother of three, she has shown that being in the spotlight does not diminish her role as a caring partner and parent. She represents stability and loyalty, values that are essential in both family and public life.

In Kate Middleton, we see the perfect harmony of tradition and modernity, humility and strength, individuality and responsibility. She has earned admiration not only in Britain but around the world because she lives with grace, compassion, and purpose. To me, Kate Middleton is the closest real-life example of the perfect British woman.

Elizabeth Bennet is the second of five daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet of Longbourn, Hertfordshire. Lively and intelligent, she is her father’s favorite child. Throughout the novel, she navigates social expectations, family pressures, and romantic challenges, eventually marrying Mr. Darcy after overcoming her own prejudices and his pride. Her character represents a new model of the English lady: graceful yet independent, charming yet principled. In my vision, Elizabeth Bennet is the perfect English lady because she unites refinement with independence. She is graceful in society, witty in conversation, and polite in manners, but at the same time she refuses to sacrifice her principles for wealth or status. Unlike many women of her era, she thinks for herself, values true respect in relationships, and has the courage to speak openly even to those above her. For me, she is perfect not because she follows the old rules, but because she reshapes them—showing that an English lady can be elegant and strong, charming and intelligent, moral and free-minded at once.

Diana came from the aristocratic Spencer family, one of the oldest noble families in England. By marrying Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, she became a central figure in world attention. She carried herself with modesty, politeness, and self-control.

In public life she embodied the classic British sense of restraint and dignity. Diana’s fashion was simple, refined, and timeless. She became a style icon admired around the globe. She actively engaged in charity: helping orphans, supporting people with illnesses, and raising awareness of HIV/AIDS. Unlike many royals, she was approachable and warm, which made her beloved by ordinary people. Diana was not afraid to show real emotions; her sincerity touched people deeply. For this she was often called “the people’s princess.” That is why Princess Diana is remembered not only as a royal, but also as the ideal of a true British lady: elegant, graceful, kind, and deeply human.

For me, Amy Winehouse is an idol British person.

Because she embodies the timeless truth that “honesty is the best policy.” Her voice was not merely sound but a mirror of the soul, echoing both joy and sorrow. Like the proverb says, “still waters run deep,” and behind her fragile image there was a profound depth of feeling that touched millions.

Amy teaches me that “to thine own self be true.” In a world full of imitation, she dared to be authentic. Her art was raw, unpolished, yet radiant — proof that beauty lies in imperfection. She showed that passion, once kindled, can light even the darkest path.

For me, she remains a symbol that “music is the universal language of mankind.” Her songs are not bound by time; they whisper to the heart long after the voice is gone. That is why Amy Winehouse is not only an artist, but an eternal lesson in courage, individuality, and truth.

Kate Middleton: A Modern Ideal of the British Woman

When I think of the image of the perfect British woman, qualities such as elegance, compassion, intelligence, and resilience naturally come to mind. Catherine, Princess of Wales — more commonly known as Kate Middleton — embodies all of these qualities and more, making her one of the most admired women in Britain and around the world.

Kate represents elegance in its purest form. Her style is timeless and graceful, yet always understated. Whether she is attending a royal ceremony, engaging in charity work, or spending time with her children, she appears dignified without being distant. This balance between sophistication and approachability has made her a global style icon and a symbol of modern British grace.

Beyond her appearance, Kate is deeply respected for her character. She is known for her kindness and her ability to connect with people from every walk of life. Her charitable efforts focus on issues of profound importance, such as early childhood development, mental health, and family well-being. In this way, she uses her position not for prestige, but for service, bringing attention to causes that shape a healthier and more compassionate society.

Intelligence and strength also define her role. A graduate of the University of St Andrews, where she studied art history, Kate has shown that education and discipline can be powerful tools in public life. She has gracefully taken on the challenges of royal responsibility, balancing tradition with the expectations of a modern world. Her patience, resilience, and tact prove that she is not only prepared for her role, but also uniquely suited to it.

Perhaps the most admirable aspect of Kate is her devotion to family. As the wife of Prince William and mother to three children, she has maintained a sense of warmth and normalcy despite the pressures of constant public attention. Her ability to create stability for her family while fulfilling royal duties demonstrates the strength of her character and the depth of her values.

In Kate Middleton, I see the harmony of tradition and modernity, of humility and strength. She is admired not only as a princess, but as a woman of purpose, compassion, and resilience. To many, she represents the very best of Britain — a perfect example of grace, duty, and humanity in the modern age.

She was not only a brilliant writer but also a quiet revolutionary who challenged the expectations placed on women in her time.

I believe Queen Elizabeth II is the perfect example of a true British lady. Watching her life portrayed in the Netflix series The Crown gave me a deeper understanding of her character. She was not only a monarch but also a woman who carried the weight of duty with grace and dignity for more than seventy years.

In The Crown, I was impressed by how young Elizabeth had to take on the role of queen unexpectedly and how she remained calm, determined, and committed to her responsibilities. I admired her strong sense of duty — she always put the needs of her country above her personal wishes. Her patience and quiet strength inspired me. She showed that true leadership is often about listening, staying steady in crises, and finding balance between tradition and change.

What makes her, in my view, the perfect British lady is the way she embodied values such as loyalty, resilience, modesty, and dedication. She maintained her dignity in both public and private struggles. The show also revealed her human side — a loving mother, wife, and sometimes a lonely figure, which made me respect her even more.

For me, Queen Elizabeth II represents the best of British identity. Her calm presence during historic moments like the Cold War, political upheavals, and even the recent global pandemic gave people a sense of stability. Her grace under pressure, her iconic style, and her commitment to service reflect what I imagine when I think of the phrase “the English lady.”

Through The Crown, I came to see her not only as a powerful historical figure but as a relatable woman who sacrificed personal happiness for the good of her people. Rising to fame in the mid-1990s as "Posh Spice," a member of the iconic girl group the Spice Girls, she quickly became known for her sleek, sophisticated style and signature pout. The band, promoting "Girl Power," was a cultural phenomenon.

After the Spice Girls disbanded, Beckham transitioned her lifelong passion for design and meticulous attention to detail into a new career. She launched her eponymous fashion label in 2008, a move met with initial skepticism by some in the industry who doubted a celebrity's serious commitment to design. However, her debut collection of form-fitting dresses, showcased discreetly, won critical acclaim for its elegance, sophisticated cuts, and high quality.

Beckham has since transformed her brand into a voice of modern minimalism, celebrated for its versatility and refined approach to women's wear, expanding to include accessories, footwear, and beauty products. Her transformation from pop icon to fashion mogul is a testament to her determination and ability to redefine her public image, successfully rebranding herself from "Posh" to "polished" and establishing a legitimate, award-winning luxury fashion house.
