         <description><![CDATA[<div>Also known as the Burgess Model after the sociologist who proposed it, this model describes a city as a series of rings that surrounds a central business district.<br>The first ring surrounding the Central Business District (CBD) is a Zone of transition. This includes industrial uses mixed with poorer quality housing.<br><br>There are 3 additional rings which are all residential. As the distance from the CBD increased, there was a zone of working-class housing, followed by high quality housing and finally a zone of larger homes and lots of suburban areas.<br><br></div>]]></description>
