She was once a victim herself at the age of 15, until she was 16 when she got arrested for prostitution. She had already started some other projects to help victims, but she founded Great Hope. Great Hope is a safe home for rescued girls to come to and open up and get back to real life, and dealing with what they have been through. Susan started helping other girls because her experience made her feel like she had to do something to help these other girls. Susan knows all about trafficking and how the process works. Most traffickers find girls as young as 14 and pose to be their friend online. They usually go to sites where they know most teens are active, like dating websites or popular hangouts. Susan says trafficking happens right up under people’s noses. Because traffickers are less likely to get caught because they train the girl on how to act in public.
