Ethos: Example Video 1

This commercial is a great demonstration of the use of ethos. McDonald"s uses famous, word-renowned athletes from all different sports in order to appeal to many different people. The athletes are well recognized, and are shown enjoying McDonald's, and obviously endorsing its food products. This provides credibility to McDonald's in the sense that the viewer sees the athlete consuming the McDonald's, and then tries to emulate them by doing the same thing.

Ethos: Example Video 2

Again, this commercial is a clear example of the use of ethos. Although, in this one Verizon employs the use of statistics rather than the endorsement of people that hold a celebrity status. They display maps of the United States showing the areas that are covered by their competitors, and then follow them up with a map of their own coverage.. which is astonishingly much better than all of the others. Also, the percentage of 96% of Americans are covered by Verizon is included. All of these create a sense of credibility for Verizon and make it seem better than the competition to the viewer.

Ethos: Example Video 3

This commercial is very concise with the use of ethos. It immediately jumps to saying that the "zero-gravity" seats in the car are inspired by NASA. This is an obvious example of ethos because, everybody knows what NASA is, and when talking about "zero-gravity" who better to base your design off of than a space exploration organization? The second that NASA is mentioned and credited for the inspiration of the seats, the viewer almost instantaneously trust that they must be legitimate. This is example of ethos is nearly textbook in its attempt to build NIssan's credibilty.

This is an example of pathos because the way that the cigarettes are being displayed as the bullets of a gun connects with the emotions of the viewer by making a very real connection to the death that is often associated with guns.

This is an example of pathos because it connects to the viewer's emotions by showing the child's face with a black eye because nearly anyone who were to see this would almost immediately begin to feel bad and feel obligated to help.

This is an example of pathos, much like the other anti-smoking ad, because its reference to the gun, again creates a connection that part of the viewer that associates guns with death.

This is an example of pathos because it creates a feeling of simply, "wow" in the viewer. Most do not think of themselves as being capable of such an appalling action, so when it is shown that drugs could push them to doing this they feel like they must deny them.

This is a good example of logos because the family raps about the car being safe and efficient. This appeals to the public for obvious reasons. People are always searching for safe cars and cars with good fuel economies, so when one is advertised as both, it seems like the logical choice.

This is a good example of logos for similar reasons as the "Swagger Wagon" commercial. It provides information about how good the fuel efficiency of the car is. This makes it seem like the logical choice if one is searching for a fuel efficient car.

This is a good example of logos because in part of the description of the motorcycle it says that,"the maneuverability and efficient fuel economy is the perfect choice for your daily transportation needs." This is done in an attempt to convince the public that this is the bike to get because when buying a motorcylce, many people are searching for very good fuel economy.

This is a good example of logos because it mentions how players all over hold the strings in high regard because of how much longer they last compared to other brands. This is trying to convince the public that these are the logical choice because I know personally, that, as a guitar player, constantly buying strings is terrible, so a type that last longer than most is great.

This is a good example of logos because in the description of the guitar it mentions long standing popularity among guitar players. This is an attempt to appeal to logic by convincing the public that since it is popular, it must be a great choice.
