         <description><![CDATA[<div>Forcible relocation by the US government in 1942 of approximately 120,000 Japanese American and Japanese residing in the US to camps called "war relocation camps."<br><br>Korematsu v. the U.S.: <br>1944 Supreme Court case where the Supreme Court upheld the order providing for the relocation of Japanese Americans. It was not until 1988 that Congress formally apologized and agreed to pay $20,000 2 each survivor.<br><br>The internment process took many Japanese families away from their homes and into internment camps. </div>]]></description>
