This m&m store in NYC was something I had dreamed on going to at the age of 11. This store only had a small amount of m&m's to choose from. Nowadays, they have over 50 colours of M&M's that you can print your name or face onto. Architecture changed the shape and design of the store, the photo above represents the 2022 store. You can see the contrast of colours, the big poster of the M&M, and the glass windows to showcase the inside of the store.

Background - I went to Europe in 2019 with my family, Barcelona was my favorite place to visit, mostly because I loved the architecture all over the city. Park Guell was the most memorable piece of architecture there.

Structure - the structure is very unique and inconsistent through the whole park. The structure for each monument is effected heavily by the materials used. The mosaic/ceramic structures are similar to each other and stone structures are similar to each other.

Function - It was built originally as a private residential area for wealthy families. I don't think it is very functional as a residential area, which is why it is not used for that anymore. It is currently a tourist attraction for families to visit to appreciate art and gardens.

Beauty - I think that the whole park is so beautiful because there are so many different designs in the mosaic and because the park is so big you could spend a long time examining each of the mosaics and how they work together. The buildings are different to the rest of the park, using brown brick (?) for the walls and then having the roofs detailed and use a specific colour palette.

Fiji is a small Island that has a memorable history background. This is significant to me because I got to learn the culture and the background of the Island. The design of buildings became a hit due to the colour and detailed designing that took place. The structure of the buildings were unique and merged beauty. Overtime, it became a holiday destination.

Background - The Spanish Steps is a historic site in Rome, Italy that holds history, beauty and culture. The Spanish Steps connect the Piazza di Spagna square to the French monastery church Trinita dei Monti. During the 1700's the Spanish embassy was located in the Piazza di Spagna, hence the name the Spanish steps. The official name is the Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti. This monument consists of 135 stairs that were built during the early 1720's connecting the past to the present.
My memory of this place is that I remember climbing the stairs on a hot 40 degree day and being overwhelmed with joy when seeing the beautiful scenery.

Structure - The steps are made out of a very durable stone called travertine stone (similar to limestone).

Function - The design of this monument was to replace a steep slope with stairs that connect the Piazza di Spagna to the Trinita dei Monti, making it more easy for people to reach the 2 places.

Beauty - During the summer, when the sun is shining down on the stairs the natural beauty of them is reflected. You can see how the stairs have aged over time but are still in perfect condition. Bright flowers and plants are placed along the stairs which enhances the whole look of the stairs.
