Our breakout rooms thinks being released means death. 

In the Book it says being released means you get kicked out of your community. We know that there are lots of communities. So it is a little bit confusing. In the book a baby was about to be released because they didn't grow and sleep as well as others. In the book a pilot was released because they broke on of the rules which was not to travel over the community. We see that the baby isn't growing, sleeping, or eating as much as he should, so the committee were talking about releasing him. This is an example of breaking the rules by being imperfect. the pilot broke the rules by making a mistake and flying over the community. He was released, but there might be two reasons why. It might be because planes are not allowed to fly over the community, or it might be because the pilot made a mistake. You can't have more than two children in a family unit.
