But I will complete the project hard.

2, I have learned what needs to be done for this project.

3, I don't understand many word. But I will try my best to look up the words.

4, The Problem: Most FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) packaging is single-use, causing waste. Traditional designs aren’t versatile for different products. Launch a shared packaging platform: rent out modular gift boxes that can be returned to community drop-off points. Include replaceable stickers for different gifting occasions.

5, I think this project will be a challenging project.

Song 1: Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell

1,Release: 1970

2,Inspiration: Joni saw Hawaii's beauty and then a parking lot there. So she wrote it.

3, Reaction: People love it. Many say it makes them think about environment.

Analysis: The song is about how we hurt nature. Like, cutting trees and building on good land. Joni is sad about this. She wants us to see we lose nice things. The mood is a bit sad but also makes you think. I learned we should care more about nature. Words like “paved paradise” show how we ruin nature. I like it. It’s simple but tells a big problem.

Song 2: Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology) - Marvin Gaye

1, Release: 1971

2, Inspiration: Marvin saw pollution and bad things in nature. So he wrote to talk about it.

3, Reaction: People think it’s a strong song for ecology. It made many care about water and air.

Analysis: This song is about pollution. Like dirty rivers and bad air. Marvin is angry and wants change. The mood is serious. His message is “Stop hurting nature!”. I researched and found it made people notice ecology then. Words like “oil spilled in the ocean” show the problem. I think it’s powerful. It makes you feel you must help the planet.

Comparison

“Big Yellow Taxi” and “Mercy, Mercy Me” both care about nature. Joni’s song is more about losing nature to buildings, like the parking lot. Marvin’s is about pollution, like dirty rivers. Joni’s mood is sad but hopeful we’ll learn. Marvin’s is serious and angry. Both use simple words to tell big problems. They make us want to protect the planet. I like how they use music to talk about sustainability.

At one dump near a conservation site, items from Zara, H&M, and Primark were also found. The waste often ends up tangled in plants, buried in sand, or burned in piles at beach resorts. Kantamanto Market and the Waste Crisis The centre of Ghana’s second-hand clothing trade is Kantamanto Market in Accra. It receives over 1,000 tonnes of clothes every week, but many traders say the quality has decreased. One trader, Mercy Asantewa, explained, “The clothes are already falling apart when we open the bales.” Only one engineered landfill site currently exists in the region. Solomon Noi, head of Accra’s waste management department, estimates that 100 tonnes of clothing leave the market as waste every day. However, the city can only collect and process 30 tonnes. The rest is dumped in wetlands, rivers, and the sea, causing serious environmental damage. The UK’s Role in Textile Waste In the UK. (n.d.). In Fast fashion waste lesson Article An investigation reveals how discarded clothes are harming people and the environment in Ghana. Clothes thrown away by UK consumers and sent to Ghana have been discovered in large rubbish dumps located in environmentally protected wetlands, according to a recent investigation by Unearthed and Greenpeace Africa.

Ghana has a big problem. Many used clothes from the UK are sent there. These clothes become waste and are thrown into wetlands. This causes lots of trouble for local people. The waste blocks rivers and coasts. Fishermen’s nets get stuck. The wetlands where turtles and birds live are damaged. Local people’s lives become hard, and the environment gets worse.

The article doesn’t give clear answers, but we can think of ways. Ghana needs better ways to handle waste. Building more dumps and recycling centers can help. But this needs a lot of money and work. Another solution is to send less waste from the UK. Fewer low - quality clothes mean less waste. But changing this will take time.

No, they aren’t. Big UK clothing brands like Next and Zara send broken clothes to Ghana. They only want to make money by selling clothes. They don’t care that these clothes become waste in Ghana. So, these companies don’t do enough.

Clothing brands should make better clothes. If clothes last longer, people will throw away less. Brands should also take back old clothes for recycling. Governments in the UK and Ghana must act. The UK government can stop low - quality clothes from being exported. The Ghanaian government can build more waste - treatment places. We can also buy fewer fast - fashion clothes.

In short, fast - fashion waste is a serious problem in Ghana. It harms local lives and nature. Companies must take more responsibility. With efforts from brands, governments, and our changes in shopping habits, things will get better.

Jordan, L. and Anane, M.

The film industry is really good, but it also has big environmental problems. We have two case studies here. They show how film professionals use creative ideas to solve sustainability issues.

Firstly, traditional film lights are big and use a lot of power. They make a lot of heat and need fossil fuels, which is bad for the environment (just like how cars pollute with gas). But now, many studios use LED lighting. LEDs use up to 80% less energy and make less heat (GreenFilmWatch, 2022). Some even use solar power or other renewable energy. This is a great change. It saves energy, money, and helps the Earth. So, using better energy sources on set shows how film people fix environmental problems.

Secondly, another big problem is transport and logistics. Film crews often travel far by car or plane. This uses lots of fuel, makes air dirty, and costs a lot. But there are solutions! Some studios use digital tools like VR for meetings. Others “localise” shoots—they hire local people and use nearby places (Lee, 2023). This saves money and protects the local environment. So, changing how they travel and work shows film pros are serious about sustainability.

All in all, professionals in the film industry are dealing with sustainability issues. They have good ways to solve energy and transport problems. If more industries can solve pollution problems, we’ll have a better and greener future.

The content of my greenwashing presentation was about Levi's jeans product and whether it is greenwashing.

This isn't my first time giving a presentation or making a poster. I worked on the Identity project before, so I have a better understanding of making posters and speaking in front of a crowd. That's why I quickly got ideas when I started this time. I'm also more skilled at using Procreate, which made the poster-making process less stressful. Compared to before, I can explain things clearly with simpler words in this presentation. I feel really happy .

In class, when I listened to Clara's presentation, her tone was quite passionate. Besides, she would use body language, which made the atmosphere of the presentation better.

I used some tips from the "Effective Presentation" PCA, such as using transition words like "first", "then", and "and" to clearly express the points I wanted to make.

I hope I can do better in my next presentation.

There shouldn't be too many words. The font should be simple and easy to read. Pictures and charts should help explain things. We can also add references.

In the poster for my identity project, I think my poster design is quite simple. The layout is not too crowded. But there is a lot of empty space.

In class, my classmates gave me some suggestions about my poster. They said there is a lot of empty space in my poster. And I will get fully prepared before the next speech.

This week we learned how to write academic papers. The structure of an academic paper includes an introduction, body paragraphs, topic sentences and a conclusion. Yesterday, we learned to rewrite sentences. Like changing active to passive, passive to active, verbs to nouns, nouns to verbs. On Monday, we gave a speech about green washing.

Academic writing in English is quite hard. Because my English level is low, I don't have many words. I don't know much grammar. And I can't express my complex ideas accurately in English. This week I learned how to write English academic papers. I need to study grammar and words hard.
