I especially like this book because children love how silly it is. They always laugh each time the Old Lady eats all the school supplies.
Age/ Audience: This book would be interesting to kids who like to be silly and laugh.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach rhyming words. It is also a good first day of school ice breaker book.

It reminded me of watching a scary movie and trying to tell the person not to go walking in the woods alone.
Age/ Audience: This book would be interesting to kids who like or know of classic bedtime stories.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach about cause an effect. I love how it had an African American main character because most main characters are unfortunately not very diverse. I also like that Dyamonde's parents are divorced so it can help kids cope with their own personal lives and relate to her.
Age/ Audience: This book would be good for students 3-5th grade depending on if the teacher is reading it or if they are reading independently.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to help kids develop empathy. Free is the new kid and Dyamonde is in search of a friend. Being the new kid can be hard. It shows kids that we should help others feel welcome, just like Dyamonde Daniel does.

It helps bring awareness and promote friendship.
Age/ Audience: I think this book would be good for kids in 2nd grade and above. I think any child would enjoy the illustrations. It has a great message for any child.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach about disabilities and frienship. In the book, Cece loses her hearing from meningitis. It would also be good to teac about bullies.

Date Read: 10/11/17
Genre: Fiction
Review: I lovede this book! I love how Binky thinks that the outside is outer space because he has never been out there. I found the novel full of dry humor.
Age/ Audience: I think this book would be good for kids 3rd grade and above. I believe this because I do not believe younger children would understand the humor. This book would be interesting to cat lovers.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach kids about point of view. For example, in Binky's piint of view, outside is space because it is uunexplored and new. To humans it is just an everyday thing.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway By: Jeff Kinney

Date Read: 10/13/17
Genre: Fiction
Review: I found this book humorous. I liked how the author showed that there are problems everywhere and you can't escape them by going somewhere new. Everyone and every place has its ups and downs.
Age/ Audience: This book would be good for students 1st grade and above. I feel as if any kid could relate to Greg. He goes through a lot of scenarios a student might go through. I think most kids would be drawn to this book because of the movie.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach kids the lesson that the grass is not always greener on the other side. In the book, Greg and his family go to a tropical destination to relax. However, it's not all it's cracked up to be there is sunburn and venomous animals.

Date Read: 10/12/17
Genre: Fiction
Review: I loved the way this novel was created. I thought it was so interesting that the story was about Jack and his autistic sister Maddy. It was a different version of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Age/ Audience: This book would be good for students of all ages. It is relatable to kids who are from single-parent households and those who have family with disabilities.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach kids about disabilities. In the story, Jack must take care of his autistic sister Maddy while his single mother works two jobs. I would also teach about the similarities and differences between the original Jack and the Beanstalk.

Date Read: 10/20/17
Genre: Fiction
Review: I found this book relateable for me. When I was a child I had to go to summer camp and I was not looking forward to it at first. I loved this graghic novel.
Age/ Audience: I think girls particularly would be drawn to this graghic novel based soley on the cover. However the content is good for anyone! It would be sutiable for almost all ages.
Possible Teaching Points: I would use this book to teach kids about making their own comics to show their inner dialouge.
