The type of task that sits at the center of the Decide and Defend routine is a worked example. The worked example can be taken from a book, created by the teacher, or produced by a student. It can be mathematically correct or incorrect. Whatever task you choose, it should position your students to make sense of a line of reasoning that is not their own, and decide for themselves if it is correct or incorrect.
