I think he would have felt scared but also excited because griffins don't actually exist and this one probably shouldn't be here. He shared the fear of the drowning creature and was desperate to save it.

I think Christopher felt relieved as he had successfully recued the griffin and it was screeching and showing signs of life. He even sacrificed things for the griffin, such as when he used his sock as a bandage to cover its open wound and when he promised he wouldn't let the griffin get hurt.

Christopher might have been scared almost to death and then he heard it a stampede and a griffin almost going to drown! (but he did save it)

I think that Christopher would be quite scared because he didn't know what this meant. He was probably quite suddenly shocked and after the stampede came, he probably would have been quite excited at the sight of all these mythical creatures, but at the same time worried about his grandad seeing him and what they were running from. (Side note: I did not copy the title)

Christopher might have felt worried, curious or scared when he heard the peeping crying, or like something was drowning in the centre of the lake, seeing the water turn white might have made him feel like something was happening to the lake.
