This week we analysed a suspense scene from the film misery and looked at other 3 clips of suspense from the films ET, candy man, silence of the lambs and what lies beneath. I have also to my padlet added some things to my Padlet.
This week i also read the assignment brief. I have chosen and researched three films to analyse these are lovely bones, Jurassic park and insidious doing this has helped me find inspiration for my own suspense scene.
I have also researched all the different elements needed to make a suspense scene to do this i read articles and watched many suspense scenes.
This week we also planned and made some notes for our 25 second suspense scene, these suspense scenes will be filmed and edited on our phones. We decided to do a chase scene and use things like music and camera angles to build the suspense.

This week we watched the film get out by Jordan Peele. we have made some notes and analysed the film by breaking it down into different sections, we wrote about how things like the soundtrack and camera angles can add to the suspense. this film uses a range of different sound effects and music to add suspense to the scene.
This week we also made our 25 second suspense scene using our phones. these short scenes were edited and filmed using our phone we editited ours using cap cut. I personally think our final 25 second suspense scene turned out really well. I think we had good use and range of sound effects and music that really added to the scene. I also thing the actors facial expression and body language really helped make the audience feel scared for her.
This week we practiced different camera angles and shot sizes, we also looked at the 180° rule which is a basic guideline in filmmaking. the 180 degree rule is where the camera would be kept on the same side of the actors or objects.

This week we started planning for our suspense scene. we had to fill out a treatment, make a mood board and fill out a proposal. we also got the chance to watch last years suspense scenes, watching last years suspense scenes has definitely helped me get inspiration for my own suspense scene.
This Thursday we also learnt new skills and got to play with different lighting techniques using the studio lights. we discussed the different purposes of each light used in a scene.
we leant about three point lighting. learning about three point lighting has helped me get a better understanding of how lighting is used in film making. learning about it has also given me inspiration for my own suspense scene.

This week we went to Cardiff city hall. we got the chance to look at different stalls this helped me get an idea of what I would like to do after college. we also listened to a speech from 5 people that have all experienced a part in the media industry working for the BBC.

This week we also filled out some of the pre production forms. we made a shot list then using that we made a story board. we also made a plan of all the props that will need to be made for next week.

Doing all this ensures production week will go smoothly

This week we finished planning our suspense scene and making props. We finished the pages of the book and also made a security tag. We also found a box and wrote lost and found on it.
This week was production week. My group came into college to film our suspense scene. We used the film studio and the control room as the setting for our scene. We also used the corridor for some of the clips.
Filming went really well and we were able to get all of our shots done quickly and effectively. I think filming went so well because our group worked really hard in the pre production so we made sure we all agreed on everything and were able to get everything done quickly. We did have to make some changes to the story as we just weren't able to create the effects we wanted with the resources we had. We originally wanted do have the lights flashing in the room ad our film is slightly paranormal but we weren't able to do this with the lights that were in the control room.

This week I have downloaded all of my footage onto my computer ready for editing.

This week i have started editing my suspense scene. Editing went really well and I'm really happy with the final outcome of my suspense scene. I think editing went so smoothly because of all the planning i had previously done, my planning helped me organise and keep track of all my clips. The hardest part of editing was probably the audio because I had to make a lot of changes with the audio, because we filmed during college hours the college was full of people, this meant we have a lot of background noise.

If i were to do this again i would either choose a different location entirely or make sure to film during quieter hours. I had downloaded loads of different sound effects to keep it interesting and to also add to the suspense.

This week i finished off my editing.

We got to show our suspense scenes during a screening and got a lot of useful feedback form our class and from the level 3 year 2s.

We were told that our suspense scene would be a lot more effective if we had used different lighting. i also agree that the lighting could have different, the lighting we used was very bright and i think we should have used lowkey lighting to help reflect the sinister feel of our suspense scene.

we were also told that the audio used in the background of our suspense scene didn't fit the setting if we were to do this again we should either film during a quieter time or find an audio that is more fitting for the setting. We were told that it was clear we had put a lot of time and effort into our props and that our props were very creative and effective and added a lot to our suspense scene.

This week i have also taken this feedback and written an evaluation.
