ysabelle met han (at the time was only crown prince han) when she was appointed as the ambassador for chinese-french magical relations. although she lived in in Paris full time, her position allowed her unrestricted access between their countries’ borders. over countless days and endless nights, colleagues turned to acquaintances, and friendship blossomed to more. due to customs regulations from the chinese ministry, secret lovers were all han and ysabelle were permitted to remain. and for awhile, that was enough. but as time progressed things began to change.

As the late emperor grew older and fell ill, pressure on the crown prince grew, he began to take on more responsibilities to aid his ailing father, and court officials began asking when he would take a wife in order to assume the throne. Around the same time the late emperor passed, ysabelle fell pregnant.

it wasn’t long before ysabelle made the decision to move back to her family home in nice, france.

in the first years following their move, han continued to write to ysabelle, stating his wished for his ‘true’ family to be together. but those letters slowed to a stop by the time braeden was 7. present day, his father is no more than a photo hidden in the back of ysabelle’s nightstand, the reason he hears his beloved maman cry alone at night, a bitter faded memory.

Braeden, following laclaire tradition, was enrolled to the prestigious beauxbaton academy of magic at age 11 where he would excel in his studies until he transferred to hogwarts for post secondary

however, as a member of the laclaire family, it was required of him to attend years of etiquette classes which, thankfully, were not lost on him, and like a true slytherin, he can be incredibly manipulative and smooth in matters he deems it worthy of his effort.

he is naturally brilliant, and incredibly competitive and is most often found pouring over any books he can find. despite is natural love for learning, braeden is not secretive of his general despise for school. according to him, listening to some rotting corpse drone on about the same thing for hours a day is a waste of his time. thus, he often opts to skip classes, and on the lessons he does show up to, he is usually napping at the back of the classroom. In spite of his lack of participation in class and constant uncompleted homework, his uncanny ability to test in the top percentiles of the class allows him to maintain his grades and keep the professors from contacting home too often.

(there are some deep rooted trust issues + daddy issues sprinkled in there, but i havent quite figured out the logistics yet

also. he LOVES his cat. and is incredibly, incredibly protective of his cat. and will fight ANYONE for that damn cat.)
