a) Most fake news consumers are college educated 

and 

b) Sensational news creates emotion which creates a reaction within readers causing them to retweet or repost, not realizing that they are propogating fake news.

Many fake news articles are nefarious in that they are meant to be a form of propoganda. 

Propoganda: mainly derogatory information that is usually misleading. Often used to promote a paricular political cause or POV.
