5D19 Jessica Wang

Light pollution can affect human health and wild animals. As it mentioned that can disrupt sleep since the light on the street is able to spill into your home at night. Therefore, it’s more likely to be lack of sleep, according to the researchers, the time spent on sleeping might less than 6hours a night. It also leads a lot of healthy issues, such as, heart disease, dementia and so on. It not only affects human life, but also harm to the ecosystem, especially nocturnal animals. It disrupts the feeding cycle for birds and fireflies. For predators, such as frogs, it is challenging for them to find food or hurt under bright light. All in all, the over-bright streetlights have become common problems in many cities over the world.

I feel worried about wild animals, because the light pollution still affects their life and impacts their normal survival. I concern about them as well, I sincerely hope pollution could be reduced and return them a healthier and cleaner home.

I think the government can lower the brightness of streetlights. They are necessary to educate public about pollution reducing and also set the policy of it.

The article mentions that light pollution can affect the reproduction of fireflies and the hunting of birds. I used to see many birds outside my window, but now the number of birds has decreased .I feel helpless when I think about how they might be difficult to live because of the light.

To reduce light pollution, I believe the government should recommend new streetlight rule , such as encouraging everyone to turn off unnecessary lights at night. This would both reduce light pollution and protect wildlife. Furthermore, publicity activities can help more people to understand the seriousness of light pollution and help reduce it.

5D24 Emily

Light pollution badly affects humans and wildlife. The article says it spoils our chance to see the night sky, messes up sleep, and long-term bad sleep makes us more likely to get sick. Once I went to the market with Mom—there were lots of red and white lights at the fish stalls. I felt dizzy, saw double, and even fainted. That’s when I knew bright light is harmful.

For wildlife, bright lights upset fireflies’ and birds’ breeding. I used to see geckos on my way home at night—they’d stay near walls, waiting to catch bugs. But now the streetlights are brighter, and I hardly see geckos anymore. What’s strange is that even with these bright lights, I can still see those scary cockroaches crawling around. It makes me wonder why bright lights affect geckos so much but seem to do nothing to cockroaches. I’m more worried about the geckos now.

I think the government should do something. We can turn off unnecessary lights, but streetlights and sidewalk lights must stay on—they keep us safe. Also, tell more people about light pollution. Let’s care about this, so we sleep better and wildlife lives well.

When the light from the streets can spill into home, it is more likely to wake up feeling confused at night.

5D04 Emma

Light pollution affects human health and wildlife. The article mentions that there are many effect of light pollution on humans and animals, low quality of sleep, impacts on ability to function, increased risks of any disease and disrupted reproductive cycles, disoriented by street lights, struggle of hunting under bright light respectively. I can definitely sense its impact on us. I am always sleeplessness because of the light on the street which causes me feel tired any time. Also, light pollution has caused a decline in my eyesight.

I am worried about the influence of light pollution. It not only affects us, but also animals. This represents that ecosystem would become worse because of light pollution, even facing extinction.

For this issue, government should make a new laws about street light, such as roadside lights need to be turned off at a specific time like 12:00 am and 3:00 am, these few people spend very little time engaging in outdoor activities.

5D13 Xin

First ,the article mentions that light pollution can make human sleep deprivation ,increasing risks of illness , affecting wildlife ,such as bats and frogs may also struggle to hunt for food under bright lights. I have experienced deeply, the street lights under my house is on all night, which often makes me difficult to fall asleep. And nowadays,it’s almost impossible to see the stars in the city.

Im truly upset by the light pollution is harming our community and wild animals. Maybe there used to be fireflies in the park, but because of too many lights, they all disappeared.this is not a distant problem, but also really happened around us. I think government should take action. Laws can be made to require street lamp must install hood to concentrate all the lights on to the ground. In the meantime, publicity activities should also be held to encourage everyone’s awareness of reducing unnecessary light.

5D17 Tina

The article explains that light pollution can affect our sleep and wildlife like birds and bat health.I have experienced by myself. When I sleep, the bright streetlight outside my window often makes it hate to fall asleep.

According to the article, areas with strong sunlight are more prone to sleep deprivation. Long-term sleep deprivation can increase the risk of dementia, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity. Furthermore, poor sleep quality can also affect our learning and work.

Light pollution not only affects humans but also wildlife. The article says that insects are attracted to streetlights that lack proper shielding and become disoriented. This has a significant impact on the ecosystem.

First,I suggest that the government can adopt shaded or blacked-out streetlights, which can focus the light on the ground. This will reduce the light from shining everywhere and reduce "glare".Second, the government can turn off street lights at regular intervals. For example, in the middle of the night when there are not many people around, most street lights can be turned off, leaving only essential lighting. This can reduce energy consumption.

5D17 Tina

In article , the light pollution affect human and animals physical health. For example , I can sleep very well because so many light in the city. The night is as bright as the day. It affect my spirit that I don’t have good state to study in the school. Another serious problem is animal habitats destroyed.

Lot of bird are affected by the light at night.

I think the light pollution will hurt the wild animals. Firstly, lot of bright is affect their lifestyle habits. Secondly, it is affect animals night life. So the light pollution hurt the wild animals’ healthy.

Firstly, I suggest government can use blacked-out streetlights. It can reduce light shining everywhere. It is a good way to reduce light pollution. Another advice is that timing tun off street lights. In the midnight, no many people in the street, so I think it not need opean the street lights. It can reduce the light pollution and save energy.
