1. An inability to learn that cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory, or health factors.
2. An inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal
relationships with peers and teachers.
3. Inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under
normal circumstances.
4. A general pervasive mood of unhappiness or depression.
5. A tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems.
The challenges faced are potential classroom disruptions. Students with SLD have trouble reading, writing, speaking out, spelling, calculating math, holding a pencil, listening, and thinking.
Disabilities included in SLD are brain injury, perception, dyslexia, and developmental aphasia. 
   One misconception is that these students can not learn, when in fact they are average or above average students. Their brains just process things differently.
    These students should have a plan of action or an IEP. The teachers can do many things to help the students in the classroom. Having students work in teams, tests read to the students, make lessons adaptable to all students needs, and modify assignments to students needs are just some of the things that can be done. 
According to Special Education Guide "overall, the best educational accommodations for students with specific learning disabilities stem from assessing a child’s particular case and identifying his or her strengths and weaknesses".
