This evidence shows Henry Morton Stanley is to blame because it shows how the Congolese people were trying fight back against the mistreatment, but this just caused Stanley to hurt them even more. Leopold never set foot in the Congo so he did not know the depth and horrific things that Stanley was doing to these people. This also shows how Stanley knew what was going on, but didn't do anything about it.

I believe Henry Morton Stanley is responsible for the death of around 10 million Congolese people because he created and went along with all of the terror involved with these people. Stanley tricked Congolese chiefs into signing treaties that they didn't understand so he could use their people to collect rubber. Stanley treated the natives there very harshly, and the things he made these people do was horrifying. On his way to the Congo, he traveled with many people and he did not care if they got sick and died, he just wanted to look good. Then, he lied to people, he posed pictures with him "working" with the natives making it look like he was helping. He also claimed that he just did it for "science and charity" but really he wanted power and land.
