The main products of trade in West Africa are salt and gold.in the " Holt chapter history book" it says that salt was a main important part of trade because it was needed in diets so many people traded for salt.In west Africa it was dry and Mali had control of the salt.So many others didn't have salt in their diet so they needed to trade with Mali to get the important pat of their diet.Gold was also important. In the book it said that gold was traded to make weapons. That is why these two things are important for trade.

There was a certain method they traded. It was known as Silent barter. In the book it said that "silent barter was a trading method where the traders traded without talking." It was created because the traders did not speak the same language. It was created by Ghana. It was used all over Africa.
