Now a lot of people tend to get into habits that they see everyone else doing. I can tell you the two biggest habits I see at school are coffee and smoking. Now for coffee I cannot say quit cold turkey because a lot of people need there coffee to wake them up and get them started for the day. I was also one of these people in high school. You do end up spending a lot of money, but if you can afford a reusable coffee cup then you can save yourself a lot of money by making your own coffee in the morning! As for smoking once you get addicted it can be hard to stop. It is a very expensive habit. Try to either stay clear to begin with or seek help to stop. Reducing or even stopping both of these habits will leave you with lots of money for you to put into your savings!

It is a very short video but it does a very good job at explaining how a TFSA is a lot better for the long run rather than a RRSP account. The TFSA has a loop hole in it that allows your money not to be taxed when you are taking it out because it is not an income.

Surprisingly they came up with the number $756,000. They also mention that 90% of Canadians do not even know how they will save that much money, or even how to save that much money. To me that is a very big amount of money but it does not surprise me that people do not realize that this is the amount that we have to save up for us to live a good retirement.

Like "paying yourself". This means when you get a paycheck or any money that you have earned that you put some of that money instantly into your savings or retirement plan so that you are left over with the money that you can actually afford. I would go one step past that and after putting your money into your savings then put the money you need to pay bills like phone, car& house insurance and other bills aside so that after that then you know exactly what you have left over. That way you never are spending money that you do not have
