Their are three states with is the first sates- clergy/church, the second state- nobles, and the third states- commoners, the problems here is that the wealthy don't have to pay taxes, the commoners have to pay all the taxes, and the king continues to spend the taxes money on themselves rather than on the public. The estates general is when all three states meet up with a list of all the issues that there is, their goal is to try and fix the problems but, the problem is that when it came to nothing it was always 2 to 1 vote, the National Assembly is the representation based on population, the goal of it is that it is more fair when it come to voting, the upper estates didn't like it because they were getting out voted. The tennis court oath is when the upper estates didn't let the third estates lock outside so they meet up at the tennis court of the palace and they promised not to disband until a constitution for the free people of France has been written.

The Storming of the Bastille is when the commoners felt attack by Louis XVI, so they attempted to rise up against the soldiers and they succeeded in freeing political prisoners, and gain weapons from the armory.people march to the palace of Versailles because they were angry over the price of bread, it's justify because the government made the commoners pay all the taxes and they just rise them more but their being used to help them.The legislative government is when king Louis XVI works with the people, this type of government doesn't work because the king and monarchs try to over through the government, also weak leadership and never had a government without a monarch. Robespierre is the leader of France in the first republic, he pushed what he believed was necessary to create the first republic, he started the process of killing anyone who speaks out against the revolution.

The Directory is when the government is run by a upper house and a Lower house. The lower house proposed legislative/ laws for the government. The upper house accepts or veto/decline the proposals. the struggle is that the upper house can veto any law that doesn't benefit them. Napoleon overthrew the Directory and make himself the new ruler. The Napoleonic codes help because he gave equal rights to men, but took the women right and brought back slavery. Eliminated the Estate system, allow freedom of religion that mean the the people could be any type of religion, restore centralized government to France that help France because they had power, increase reforms in education help improve it, improve the relationship with the pope, and he also sells the territory in north america to the U.S. He left behind a legacy that is France dominated continental Europe that mean that France control most of Europe, and he also installed his own rulers of conquered nations that means that he maid his family rulers of countries.
