The dystopian novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a young girl in an oppressive society who must participate in a barbaric game where tributes from all of the districts within the country must fight to the death in an arena in order to make it home to her family. The theme of food insecurity is heavily prevalent as the protagonist's family struggles with it and then she herself experiences it in the extreme during the games. This story is important to people right now because food is used to control the districts in the same way we see food being used to control entire regions and people right now, like Palestine.
