As a future principal my professional perspective on diversity and inclusion is that it must be a priority on campus and done with compassion. The audience is the administrators, teachers and staff. The goal for a successful campus culture is to ensure there is diversity and inclusion throughout all phases on campus. Diversity also reflects toward the students. Students learn a lot through observation and when they come to school they need to witness a campus that is diverse and inclusive toward the whole campus population. The school needs to be a safe place where students and staff can be comfortable with who they are. When a healthy diverse campus is present it will help the students understand and emulate diversity when they leave secondary education. That is the reason why this topic is chosen and important. So that every staff member and student feels accepted, appreciated, and loved no matter what background they come from. A school is a place where students can envision themselves currently and in their futures.

Diversity - In Brown v. Education it’s clear how to initiate a diverse campus, there shouldn't be discrimination toward anyone. Everyone deserves the rights that they are given and it cannot be taken away from them. The law helps and protects all employees and workers so that they have the right to be treated equally and fair. Brown v. Education is a law that brought agency’s or rules in both federal and states level. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (federal) and the Texas Education Code section 51.3525 (state). The laws at both federal and state show the significance the ruling is and how discrimination is not tolerated in the United States.

The principal is the first person accountable for the campus to be diverse that everyone is treated with respect and that their rights are not violated. If something occurs on campus that is a legal issue then the principal must contact the district and proceed according to the district’s jurisdiction and contact the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) for a complaint (Texas Education Agency, 2019).
