The video explains the symptoms of Schizophrenia, and how it affects the people that are diagnosed with it. Schizophrenia can have cognitive and bad symptoms. Schizophrenia has some of the strongest genetic links then any other illness. Children or siblings of people with schizophrenia are 10x more likely to develop the disease. Exposure to certain illnesses in infancy might increase the chance of developing schizophrenia. Some drugs can be effective in reducing positive symptoms, but can also make negative symptoms worse.

In the video, Alisha explains her story of how she's dealt with being diagnosed with Schizophrenia. She had severe insomnia, along with intrusive thoughts and struggles with dealing with stress. She didn't want to be identified with the illness because of the stigma surrounding it and it was overwhelming. Therapy and group meetings were very helpful for her. It's liveable once you get on the road to recovery and the right drugs to help you.

This video explains what Schizophrenia is and how it affects how you think, feel, and behave. Schizophrenia is uncommon, and only affects around 1/100 people. One of the symptoms of this illness is hearing sounds, like voices, that don't actually exist and aren't there. Other symptoms are also delusions, special meanings, feelings of being controlled, negative symptoms, like losing energy in your life and your emotions drain. Medication and support can help ease the symptoms. 1/5 people recover, many get better but still have times where they get worse.

This video explains the signs of schizophrenia. Childhood schizophrenia is more infrequent then later onset schizophrenia. A child or young adolescent might become more isolated and have troubles focusing because they're more focused on delusions and false thoughts. Hallucinations are mostly scary for kids and makes them very anxious. People with schizophrenia can have troubles falling asleep, because of the hallucinations that they're suffering from.

People with schizophrenia feel like they're not mentally present or in touch with their bodies. Symptoms of schizophrenia include catatonia, delusion, hallucinations, lack of hygiene and so much more. Schizophrenia is more common in males than in females. Symptoms appear when one of the neural circuit situated in the midbrain overproduced neurotransmitter called dopamine. This disrupts the balance between secretion dopamine and acetylcholine. Medication includes antipsychotic drugs, like risperidone. There still needs to be more research done to fully understand the illness.

Schizophrenia has a lot of stigma connected to it. People with schizophrenia should have at least one person that they feel comfortable with.

The main thing about Mike's schizophrenia is how he has voices in his head that tell him possibly false things about the world. It's his job to figure out what's real and what's not. They tell him that he's not strong or smart and he's weird looking and other negative things. He either has to fight or accept the voice and fight it to find the truth. He also has some residual paranoia along with heavy anxiety and struggles with speaking to other people.

Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe, and often disabling brain disorder. It can be divided into 3 groups of symptoms - positive, negative, and disorganized symptoms. Positive symptoms include hallucinations and delusions, which leads to the person being confused on what's real. Negative symptoms include loss of motivation and difficulty finding pleasure in fun activities. They may not show emotions or talk much. Disorganized symptoms include unusual or disorganized thinking and speech, bizarre behavior, and inappropriate responses to social situations. Any of these symptoms can have a disabling effect on an individuals day-to-day life. It may begin in the mid to late years of teens.

It can be a lifelong severe mental illness, but it can also be managed with treatment. They felt as if people didn't like them and couldn't connect. They would either quickly switch topics in a conversation, or talk about things that didn't make sense to other people. Became more isolated as years went on. Seeing the counselor helped them realize their symptoms and open up. It impacts every part of life. After talking to a psychiatrist, they were prescribed medication that helped them feel less paranoid, talk more to others and hear the voices less often. Having people in their group listen, talk, and accept them really made an impact on their ongoing recovery journey.

When they got diagnosed, they felt relieved to know what they were dealing with, but the label was also a heavy one to bear. It started when they were around 16 with mental health issues. There were certain behaviors, such as avoiding mirror or blocking up gaps in doors that made them realize something wasn't right. Only after a few years did people realize something wasn't right. The start of symptoms was very subtle, starting with distortion and melting objects and furniture insects crawling on their skin. It gradually went on to negative voices, which lead them to become more isolated and be more creative and into drawing then being social. They finally got help when they started seeing fish in the car. Started off with antidepressants, and then moved onto antipsychotics. They'd rather be themself then be dosed up on medication that made them not feel like their own person.

I learned that it's more than just seeing unrealistic things, it's hearing voices and constant paranoia and feeling disconnected from your mind and body. I found it interesting how it's more likely to occur in people that have family members who suffer from the illness.
